Abacus envy
Just to show how far technology has come in the past decade, consider this journal entry I found from May 1994, in which I effuse over the first computer I ever bought, considered state of the art at the time:
I went to my friend Bill's to pick up the computer system I'm buying from him. I am so excited about this system I can't stand it. It's a 486 with 4 MB RAM and a 240 MB hard drive, a faxmodem, sound card, color monitor, CD-ROM, speakers, a microphone, and a color inkjet printer--all for $2,000!

You came to the nerd party SO late. My first computer had a cassette recorder for storage, 64K (or .064 megs) of RAM, a chiclet keyboard, and a 5x7 dot matrix printer.
When I bought it, I was in heaven. Who could actually use all 64K?
