2004 Mount Rainier Equipment List

The equipment list below is mainly geared towards climbing Mount Rainier via the Disappointment Cleaver with a team of 7 climbers:

FUEL (white gas) REQUIREMENTS:

* The rule of thumb is 8 fl oz/person/day.

* 4 days of fuel needed:
    o  Each 2-man tent needs 64 fl oz [16 fl oz/day x 4 days]
    o  The 3-man tent needs  96 fl oz [24 fl oz/day x 4 days]

* Total white gas needed (7 people x 4 days):  224 fl oz.
  [We need to buy 2 gallons of Coleman white-gas (256 fl oz) 
   at the Spanaway, Washington WalMart store].

  __ 1 pair medium weight fleece gloves

     wrist leash (e.g. OR Pro Modular mittens)

  Sleeping gear:

  __ 1 full length closed cell foam pad (e.g. Ridgerest)

  Pack: 
  __ Internal frame pack (5,000+ cubic inches) 
  __ 1 large duffel bag to store travel clothes and other travel items

  Eating utensils:

  __ 16 oz insulated mug with lid
