Altering photographs is a fun way of making fantasy art.

[Allanon--hand-colored photo w/digital modification]
Allanon (1988)
This photo (which I did not take) began as a class assignment in making hand-colored black-and-white photographs, and was later altered digitally to make Allanon's clothing more accurate.

Water forms a "thin" place between the real world and the limbo world, and although there are certain places (such as the pool of the Hadeshorn) that are more amenable to communication between the two, any body of water can serve as a point of contact under the right circumstances. Looking out across this still pond provides Allanon a moment of reflection about his father.

. This view of the Druids' Keep began as a scanned photo from a magazine of a collection of buildings on a hilltop somewhere in Europe. The viewer would be standing east-by-southeast of the castle.

This image, in various forms, has been on my webpage since the first "Anne's Shannara Page," and I consider it my "theme" image.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to steal these pics, but it seems obligatory to say that these images are copyright by me, and may not be used by anyone else for any purpose without my permission.
