Here in sunny Iowa, amongst the yellow cornfields and beneath the Goddess's eternal blue skies, the Cedar Rapids Free Womyn have reclaimed the Cedar Rapids Massage Parlor and turned it into a Center for Feminine Advancement. There are no rules here, only that we must respect each other and respect the Goddess.
Our daily schedule includes :
We serve the community by providing drop-in sessions for womyn covering the following topics

Advancement is a .
Whilst we do not hate
men, we do not wish them to interfere with the we have fostered here.
We ask that men respect
our space and do not violate this .
Some words from our leader, Myra Hennessey :
"I want to tell you a story. It's a story about a girl growing up in the 70s and 80s. Times were hard for womyn back then, and oppression, domination and discrimination were commonplace. As this girl got older, she started asking questions : why should she be deemed a second-rate citizen purely on the basis of her gender? Why should she be made to feel inferior and be made an outcast due to her feelings and desires? Why should she be discriminated against because she was sexual female? Why should she have to live like this?
That girl was me.
I founded Cedar Rapids Free Womyn and the Center for Feminine Advancement to allow womyn like myself to experience a liberation and a depth of self-knowledge which just isn't possible under the patriarchal system. As long as men remain dominant, as long as there is still a "man" in "woman", womyn will never be able to be equal to the other sex. By forming a womyn-only environment like the Center, womyn are able to escape the chains of patriarchy and become free and beautiful creatures in their own right.
I hope you will enjoy browsing through this website. It has been designed to be an empowering, and hopefully inspiring, experience for womyn. The colors we have used reflect the aspects of a womyn's life that we feel are important; green, to represent Mother Earth, the Goddess; yellow, the life-giving sunshine; red, the menstrual blood; and lilac, the color of the lily, a symbol of freedom. I think you will find all these elements represented in our philosophies and our lives.
Remember, a Free Womyn is a beautiful womyn."
We
hope to see you soon to share in this beautiful creation.
