For lack of anything better to write about this evening, here's my Oscar picks for Sunday:

Best Picture - Lord of the Rings
Best Actor - Denzel Washington
Best Actress - Sissy Spacek
Best Supporting Actor - Ian McKellan
Best Supporting Actress - Jennifer Connelly
Best Director - Ron Howard
Animated Feature - Shrek
Animated Short Film - Fifty Percent Grey
Original Screenplay - Amelie
Adapted Screenplay - Lord of the Rings
Makeup - Moulin Rouge
Original Score - A Beautiful Mind
Original Song - "Vanilla Sky"
Sound - Black Hawk Down
Sound Editing - Pearl Harbor
Visual Effects - Lord of the Rings
Foreign Language Film - Amelie
Art Direction - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
Costume Design - Moulin Rouge
Film Editing - Lord of the Rings
Documentary Short Subject - Artists and Orphans
Short Film, Live Action - Copy Shop
Documentary Feature - Children Underground

Now I'll go log these in over at the Yahoo Movies Oscars contest and we'll see what happens.  Before you think I'm getting all cocky about this, notice my mention on the right about my HSX experience - and I'll admit flat out I'm making some wild guesses in several of these areas.  I'm also a little biased toward Lord of the Rings.

A couple of those short film categories I'm basing on the fact those are the ones being most widely seen, since you can go watch them right now over at Yahoo!Movies:  "Copy Shop" and "Fifty Percent Gray".

I'll let you know how this turns out - should be fun(ny?)!
