| Friday November 15th 2002 Winter must be approaching; I'm getting those ear-aches again. All I did was wait at a bus stop and the cold air started getting to me; meanwhile I see a jogger go by without any hat, earmuffs, anything, and wonder whether it's just me or am I getting old or what? Had 'the guys' over last night; first night I've been able to do that in a while, so busy with visiting LA and writing critique class and stuff. Our favourite past-time - when the X-Box is three and a half hours away - is resorting to boardgames. Last night's venue was 'History of the World' which is only as complex and long as it sounds. Pretty quickly I found myself in third place in a three-player match, which is bad for two reasons - a) practically impossible even to win second, and b) when the two leaders are neck and neck, everything you do to affect the board is seen as biased in someone's favour. So basically, you're definitely going to lose and be called names all the way to the bottom. The secret is to find the humour in the situation, and thankfully all turned out well. I'm interested in seeing the new Harry Potter flick, but found out only today - with mere hours to go - my girlfriend LA might like me to wait and see it with her after all, despite having consistently turned down multiple offers from me in the in past to do exactly that, ever since I discovered what a fan she was. Sigh. So I'll put that one on hold and find something else to do with my evening, missing all the hoopla of opening night which I love so well. I'll be making up for it shortly, however, with Star Trek and The Two Towers both opening within the next month or so - both of them 'must see on the first night' events, if such is possible. I'm pleased to see I am once again updating often enough to the point where I'm stuck for thinking of something to say. My weekend plans are pretty bare; I'll be sorting out the work I'm doing on my novel's second draft, and there's a Senator's hockey game tomorrow night - the first of six I've bought tickets for with friends for this season. I'm still not the world's biggest fan, but it's a fun thing now and then. Twelve games last year was too much, but six should keep anticipation levels reasonably high. Particularly after I get past the part where I pay off the friend who bought everybody's tickets. |
