Cecile grew up, studied, and worked in South America, Spain, and Florida. Until 2002, when
attracted by the beauty of San Francisco and its stylish life style, she decided to move there
as it felt to be the right place to continue her journey to her true life passion.
She had graduated from Industrial Design School in 1999. She worked several years in large
scale factories designing knitwear and woven fabrics in Uruguay, and later as Assistant
Apparel Designers Bettina Fahlbush and Linda Ayre in the Bay Area. These experiences helped
her gain profound understanding of different materials, their construction, properties and
possibilities. She could deepen into creative and technical areas, improving pattern making,
fabric/color combination, efficient costing, cutting and sewing skills.
Also, following her personal interest, in dance, theater and film, she become involved in a
variety of interesting performance projects. She developed costumes for Directors Rey
Carolino and Jeffery Hartgraves, Also for associations such as; Mission Cultural Center, Loco
Bloco and privateclients. “These were great opportunities to experiment and have fun, to
express creativity and imagination, to think outside the box and obtain fantastic results using
resources ingeniously”, as Cecile will quote later.
But it wasn’t until she was invited to collaborate with a Restaurant decoration project that
she founded her call. Decor Sewing! The creation of one of a kind pieces of extraordinary
materials to make living spaces personalized and unique.
Then one after another, drapes, slip covers, pillows and all kind of décor items become her
center projects. As business grew so did her passion and dedication for décor, becoming her
full time work and study. She had finally found “that” occupation where she can use her
experience and natural abilities, to tailor dress windows, seats, beds and tables, helping
people bring beauty and sophistication to their every day life.
