Mission 75
_______________________________________________________
Wednesday: October Fifteenth 1975
From the personal notes of Chuck Darling, age 18
Theme: World Community
Speaker: Paul Hafner
I am frightened.
I prayed last night.
I talked to (Rev.) Ted Berg, he feels the Lord is with me!
I am a community coordinator.
There is 11.7 million dollars of revenue sharing here.
I implement projects.
I spent last week trying to give people the competence to deal with
their Government, and social systems.
But I don't think (I was very effective)
If only we were at peace, and could share our peace with everyone!
...
Where are we now in this Parish?
There are all kinds of societies and organizations in communities.
All of us at one time or another belonged to one of these groups!
...
What are these groups trying to accomplish?
Have you ever been in front of the television set, and forgot what you
are watching? (That's what happens with programs!)
Is "Kojak" (A macho, Lollipop toting detective) in all of his bald boldness really worth it?
I waste an awful lot of time ! ! !
We are wasting time ! ! !
I don't think that we're talking about building Community Centers...
If we don't have people working towards relationships with these people,
Why should we have to have:
Welfare...
Social Security...
Old Folks Homes...
Homes for the Mentally Retarded...
This doesn't make any sense!
Those people enrich our lives ! ! !
Charley (a paraplegic child) really taught me about living ! ! !
You have to spend your time well.
Charley did!
We all live next door to somebody!
We all live on a block
And
Most of us aren't doing a damn thing ! ! !
"Each one to teach one "
It's going to take a long time for me
to get to tomorrow ! ! !
Let's forget about Community Centers ; Television,
And Just Reach Out . . .
To the people right next to us ! ! !
