The Tree

THE TREE

There once was a tree,
That helped set me free.
This tree grew,
Even as the wind blew.
God planted it for a reason
For it was almost the season.
Soldiers came to the woods in which it stood,
And they removed it as fast as they could.
They took it to a craftsman who formed it.
Then he conformed it.
It no longer lived in the woods
This tree on Calvary stood.
It held my precious Saviour,
Even though He was it's precious Creator.
As they raised the tree,
I realized I'd soon be set free.
As the time came,
I hung my head in shame
For it was me who nailed Him to the tree.
He let me  so I would be set free.
God created that tree,
But man made it the key
To my Saviour's  death on Calvary.
