How to play

1. Print out this page or the game card.
2. Circle 60 or so days and declare them to be mystical! You can use some feeble mathematical formula if you like but it's quicker and just as effective to pick random dates, a continuous block, or interesting patterns.
3. Every time a significant event happens (see below) on one of your dates, scream DIRECT HIT very loudly and cross the date off!
4. If the date is out by one day, consider using the international date line to determine if anywhere else on Earth was the correct date. If so, then scream DIRECT HIT! If not then claim a one 'window' either side of your date and claim DIRECT HIT anyway!
5. If some significant event happens on your day that doesn't quite fit those below (e.g. a helicopter not a plane crashes, or a mudslide not a quake happens), scream DIRECT HIT anyway!
6. Feverously pore through details of the number of dead, time of event, age of craft, flight numbers, etc. looking for numbers such as 113, 168 etc. that correspond your feeble mathematical formulae (see above). 
7. Also try allegory "a TRAIN of events lead to the stock market CRASH" = an allegorical TRAIN CRASH so it's a DIRECT HIT!
8. If the date is obviously wrong and there is no numerical connection or allegory to be had, be conspicuously silent until it all blows over. After all, people only remember the hits not the misses!
9. If in doubt add the day to your existing list of dates and cross it off anyway!
10. If you are on medication for certain psychological conditions, stop taking it!

Your significant events may include:

• Plane crashes
• Train Crashes
• Terrorism
• Famous Deaths
• Massacres
• School Shootings
• Earthquakes
• Hurricanes
• Assassinations

Plus anything else you want to claim credit for. You can't lose!

Why? Consider how many significant events happen in a year. In 2001 there were:

• 34 air accidents with 1007 fatalities (source)
• 70 significant earthquakes (6.5+ on Richter scale) (source)
• 348 acts of terrorism with 4,655 casualties (source) Note the number of casualties is atypical because of the WTC attack, but the number of attacks is similar with past years.
• 23 hurricanes near the US (source 1 & 2).

To these add dozens of rail disasters (need a link), various dead famous people (whether that means famous to you or famous to anyone can work in your favour!), the occasional assassination and gun rampage. Taken together and you you have more than 500 significant events in any given year. The odds of something significant happening on any day are 500 to 365, in other words something is more likely to happen than not. Factor in number fudging and allegory and you're practically guaranteed a nice trawl of hits, all without having any magic powers at all!

How to validate your direct hit

What's the point of winning if no one acknowledges you as a living god or prostrates themselves before you? Create a dozen or more sock puppets and spam lots of newsgroups and forums proclaiming yourself a great seer. Phone the media and harangue individual reporters if they ignore you.

This might attract the attention of detractors who will mock you, point out how feeble the prediction was, that it was a one in six guess etc. To deal with this:

1. Spam even more!
2. Accuse THEM of spamming!
3. Deny you are using a sock puppet. 
4. Call your detractors child molestors, fags, xtians, queers, morons etc. Pepper your responses with lots of childish insults such as haha and fuck you etc. 
5. Find their place of work, and other email address and send them anonymous threats.
6. Claim that the FBI / CIA / mental health organizations VALIDATE your predictive powers by coming around to investigate threats you've made against various politicians or celebrities!
7. Respond to point by point refutations by mumbling "the FACTS prove otherwise" over and over again without ever supplying any!
8. Scream that it was a direct allegorical hit!
9. Go into kook meltdown mode and reel off dozens of long incoherent tirades one after another. These only strengthen your case!
10. When people die touch yourself in that secret place that grandmother used to beat you for, you dirty, wicked, nasty little boy!!! I'll cut it off so help me you wretched, filthy little bastard!!!
