Saxton Homeschool
Continued

I regain my perspective and sense of humor by ... reading good books such as For The Children's Sake, Shepherding a Child's Heart, Your Child's Learning Style, Ultimate Guide to Homeschooling and A Survivor's Guide to Homeschooling.

Running the homeschool goes better when I remember to ... take time to lift all of my needs, concerns and cares to the Lord to orchestrate and make sense of. The other thing I regularly do to keep my energy level high and myself strong is to take a daily walk.

The spiritual exercise or devotion that is most helpful to me is ... To remember the most important things we can teach our kids are the things of the Lord and the values we hold true. We need to spend time in the Bible to do that.

The best advice my parents gave me is ...
do your best! My mom was not so sure I would be very good at homeschooling since I was not a good  student, and  she didn't say much at first, then in time she has become a great cheerleader for me. So, one other thing they taught me was ... if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all!!

When I'm having a bad day, I ...
sometimes take an extra walk and pound the pavement and pray allowing God to show me what I need to do to change.

When I'm about to lose my temper, I ...
take a deep breath and realize how ineffective yelling is ... I also try to remember how much I hate the sound of a raised voice and how awful it sounds. I can honestly say that my patience has grown in these years of homeschooling!
