Physical Education Policy
1. Students are to attend class fully prepared to participate in all class activities. Students need clean and appropriate footwear for indoor gym classes. Proper gym clothes will vary according to the activity. Jeans are not considered gym clothes! (Student Handbook, p. 17)
2. A note from a parent/guardian is required for absenteeism or problems that prevent you from participating. Otherwise, that period is considered unaccounted for and will be given a 0% grade.
3. Late assignments will lose 10% a day. After 3 days, the maximum assigned mark will be 50%. (Student handbook, p. 16). No work, No Play!
4. Should a medical certificate be required part way through the year, the remaining evaluation may be conducted on assigned chores and/or written materials. This applies only to units in which you cannot participate.
5. Students should use equipment appropriately or not at all.
6. Food/drink items are not to be consumed during class time. Bottled water will be allowed in the gymnasium.
7. Students are not permitted in the gymnasium or fitness center unless properly supervised during scheduled times.
8. Valuables are not to be left in change rooms. People steal stuff!
9. Avoid wearing watches, jewelry, or restrictive clothing that could be harmful to you or others. No ball caps to be worn to or in class.
10. Students are not permitted to leave the gym, field, or activity setting without permission.
11. At the end of class, you are to wait in the gymnasium until the bell sounds or until you are dismissed.
12. No private vehicles may be taken by students to or from activity venues.
13. CD players, MP3 players, cell phones, etc. are not permitted. Such items will be removed by your teacher or along with you!
14. Bus Travel! All school classroom rules regarding your behaviour and conduct apply on the bus. (Student handbook, p. 18). Your teacher will be organizing the group while on route to your destination. Listen for instructions.
15. The corridor and stairway behind the stage is off limits to students.
