About Me

E-mail me

If anyone cares, here is some more information about myself. My name is Steven John Darlington, and I was born on the 12th of December, 1976, making me 24 years old at the time I am writing this. I am six foot one and a half inches tall and take size 11 shoes. I have brown eyes over which I wear glasses, and have dark brown hair which is disappearing over the horizon as we speak. This is what I looked like about two years ago when I got my first work ID. I must get that updated.

When not at work, I look more I look more like this or this. There are more photos of me and my family in the Gallery. The best (and alas, also one of the oldest) of my friends has a page just for him.

Other than my dog, these are some of my favourite things, with some cool pictures thrown in at the end. I also have an old links page, made in 1997, which isn't exactly useful, but with the former, may provide some insight into my tastes and preferences, and hence the very core of my psyche.

Through no concious decision of my own, I find myself gainfully employed doing statistics at the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, more of which is elsewhere on this site. When not working there, I engage in a wide range of hobbies, such as eating, sleeping, reading, writing, editing, surfing the net, gaming, cards in particular, roleplaying, etymology, literature, linguistics, cryptic crosswords, watching TV, trivia, subculture immersion, having dinner with friends, all types of animation and I have also been known to play the guitar badly and the drums even worse. I also, as it says elsewhere, have various side projects in the roleplaying world, which I'm trying to build into some sort of career.

I'd call myself a Christian, a writer, a scholar, a gamer and a geek. I also consider myself an easy-going aesthetic, your typical leftist middle-class over-educated disaffected twenty-something. I'm single, and I love dogs, and no link between those two facts should be inferred.

Comparatively, I like to think of myself as something like Xander Harris, but in truth am probably more like Ben Katz. And I'd like to think that one day I'll resemble Inspector Morse, but really I think I'll be more like Jay Sherman. If you understood all those references, then we have a similar cultural background and probably much to talk about.

Friends

Here are some websites belonging to other esteemed individuals who are known to me:

Brett Matthews
A consumate politician, so why he runs for the Democrats I don't know. Vote for him if you live in Everton. Site is pretty empty, but gets the job done.

Simon Dennis
Smarter than a hat full of geese. Site full of stuff on cognitive science.

Ray Smith
His website is always coming, but never here. I admire that.

Regina Basman
Regina drives me crazy, but in a very good way. Contains an embarassing picture of me, and an embarassing picture by me. And some other nice things.

Chris Snape-Jenkinson
Informative, smooth, good looking but not overstated. And the website is good too. :)

James Tranter
Noddy. Killer Clowns. Shrines to physics lecturers. In short, a brilliant site.
