Location and Directions

Carwarden is located in a tranquil rural setting in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, on the Evangeline Trail near Wolfville and Kentville, about 5 minutes' drive north of Highway 101 (see map below).

From Highway 101, take Exit 11(Port Williams and Greenwich); turn right (east) on Highway 1; then just past Blomidon Garden Centre, turn left on Highway 358. Go 4.4 km on Highway 358, through the village of Port Williams and beyond it to the intersection of Highway 358 and Church Street. Turn left on Church Street and go 2.2 km to Carwarden. The total distance from HIghway 101 is about 7km, or 4 miles.

Carwarden is an ideal place to choose for an extended stay as a base for day trips to several interesting and scenic areas within convenient driving distance.

Some useful driving times from Carwarden: 5 minutes-Kentville or New Minas-restaurants, banking, malls and movie theatres

10-15 minutes-Wolfville-Atlantic Theatre Festival, Acadia University, fine dining -Cape Split hiking, the Bay of Fundy tides and beaches, Hall's Harbour or Scotts Bay -fresh Bay of Fundy lobster dinners at Lobster on the Lawn -golf courses (2), antique shops, museums, wineries

20 minutes-Grand Pre National HIstoric Site, location of the expulsion of the Acadians in 1755, and the setting for Longfellow's poem , Evangeline

1 hour-Halifax, the provincial capital-harbour tours, International Tattoo, sightseeing, Halifax Citadel National Historic Site

1 hour 15 minutes-Halifax International Airport -Digby-St. John ferry terminal -Annapolis Royal-Fort Anne National Historic Site, Port Royal Habitation, historic gardens, tidal power project -Lunenburg, a World Heritage Site, and Mahone Bay

1 hour 30 minutes-Peggy's Cove -Shubenacadie-tidal bore rafting

2 hours 45 minutes-Yarmouth terminals for the Cat and Scotia Prince ferries

3 hours-Caribou terminal for ferry to Prince Edward Island

3 hours 15 minutes-Amherst-entry point from New Brunswick via Trans Canada Highway

4 hours-Prince Edward Island via Confederation Bridge

5 hours-Canso Causeway to Cape Breton Island

6 hours-North Sydney, Cape Breton-terminal for ferry to Newfoundland
