A Quiet July Fourth

Today we had a nice,  relaxing Fourth of July.   We spent our second day without the kids,  being that they were still over at their grandma's.

We spent the time away in our backyard garden,  pruning and cultivating and watering...

My wife's been reading a lot lately,  and has been passing the time away under our market umbrella,  reclined on one of our cushioned lawn chairs.   We started up the barbecue and had a late lunch.   The weather has been just as nice as it's been all weekend.   Sunny,  yet not too hot with a slightly cool breeze coming from the southwest.

I'd been spending more time practicing on drums lately.  But I finally finished this new website and was overjoyed that I'd completed it.   What an ordeal for the last two weeks.  This was the main reason why I had been neglecting the journal site.

Later on in the late afternoon,  my wife and I picked up the two boys and we drove to see the fireworks.   I'm not too thrilled about fireworks,  but we mainly saw them for the kids' sake.

Afterwards,  we just spent a nice, quiet evening at home.   Such mundane living,  yet as boring as the day might seem to others,  our day was full of meaning and satisfaction.

Somehow,  today was a day of reflection,  about being someone who has been truly blessed with a lot of things,  and that life has always been good,  regardless of what obstacles I might have faced in the past...
