The Saturday Cleaning Crew

I'm in the mood to really clean house today.

After breakfast I started out by cleaning the kitchen,  and I decided that I was going to clean it "very" thoroughly.    I started out with the tiled counters and the grout.  It was a big, big job and I had to break for lunch.

After lunch I continued right on in with the tile cleaning...  big job,  it hadn't been done in a while.

I went cleaning crazy!   I started "detail cleaning",  cleaning the toaster oven,  even opening the panel underneath to get all the bread crumbs out.   That toaster oven now looks like I bought it just today!

Nate called and asked if I were going to carpool down to his gig.   I thought about it but if I drove I'd be hanging around downtown twiddling my thumbs,  waiting for him to finish his gig.   I wanted to go downtown on better strategic terms,  I wanted to be able to leave and not have to wait for someone.   So I decided to go downtown later...

Anyway,  I got back to my cleaning and thought to myself,  "am I hiding from my problems by doing other things such as cleaning the house?".    I might be doing that,  but I also feel I need some time to heal...   this being "let go from the band"  has been a traumatic experience for me,  and I definitely need the time "to heal" myself.   And with that logic,  I continued to clean house.

Going Downtown To Show My Face

I decided last minute to "once and for all" go downtown and start meeting people and giving them my business card.   I needed to stop moping and start networking for a change.

So I went downtown to meet some club managers and musicians.

It was successful...    I was able to pass my business card to some of the top musicians in town.   That's what my plan was,  to go to the best with the logic that they would know a lot of other musicians and my chances of getting work would be greater,  and sooner.

I even went right up to some drummers,  and with the possibility that if they needed to get a substitute for a gig they couldn't do,  then I'd be available to do it.

It was a fairly successful night of "touching base" with people with whom I've had a rapport going when I was with my former band.

Well,  I'd have to say, "mission accomplished" in regards to two things today...    a clean,  immaculate kitchen,  and a night of musician networking!
