Losing My Voice I had to wake up early and get the kids ready for school, pretty much on my own. My wife left early for a management training class. I just played a gig last night at The Catamaran, so I was utterly exhausted. After seeing my older son off to his bus and dropping my younger son off to school, I stayed awake because I had to rehearse with the band at 12 noon. We had a meeting with our new band manager. After telling us a bit about himself and what he would like to see accomplished in the band, he passed out contracts for us to review. It's kind of scary getting a new manager to take over the band, but he's here to provide a service to the band. The gig at Music City was a bit of a disappointment.
Not too many people showed up. The soundman told me that the
attendance had dropped to an all-time low, and that our audience turnout
was actually the best in a while. It's sad to think about it,
but people were saying that Music City was going to close pretty soon.
Anyway, I was sick the whole day and struggled through the gig at Music City. Then toward the end of the night I started to lose my voice. Good thing I'm not a singer. I'm really in need of a good rest,
but we have another show to do in less than 24 hours at Tio Leo's.
I can't really call in sick... that's the problem with the
music business. You can't call in sick.
