C h r o n i c l e   ~  Aftermath

10:30AM PST
At Home In Scripps Ranch

I had awakened to the sounds of my ten year old niece as she barged into the master bedroom asking her aunt (my wife) about something which I couldn't really decipher.

I arrived early this morning at 1:30am,  after a two and a half hour drive from LAX.   Orlando seemed in the distant past now.

Well,  after finally making my way downstairs and greeting everybody a Happy New Year,  I ended up helping my sixteen year old niece record some of my classic rock CD's onto cassette format.   I kind of wondered if I had influenced her into listening to all this classic rock stuff...    I had been listening to a lot of Led Zeppelin lately...   maybe some of my interests in music are finally rubbing off.

I was still basically feeling groggy and maybe a little jet-lagged from the flight home last night,  and so much so, that I didn't have the energy or mental clarity to brew some Starbucks coffee to wake myself up.   I pretty much carried on this way throughout the rest of the day,  not really wanting to wake up fully.   I knew that I didn't have any reasons for being alert,  and it WAS the beginning of my two week vacation,  so why bother?   I just wanted to relax and take it easy today.

11:30AM PST
Two Blocks Up The Street

We all went up the street to the home of my wife's younger sister for a New Year's Luncheon.   My brother-in-law who is Vietnamese,  was in town from Charlotte,  North Carolina,  taking a few days off from his job to celebrate New Year's.   He works for USAir,  and usually flies home on the weekends.

The food was quite delicious,  if not a bit on the "sinful" side.   I usually eat a lot of seafood,  vegetables and rice, trying to maintain a healthy diet,  but today I indulged in some Filipino sausages  (very sinful but also very delicious),  Lumpias (Filipino egg rolls),  Ham,  Turkey,  Noodles,  and some Vietnamese dishes.

My sister-in-law from Santa Barbara was here in town to pick up her daughter,  who had gone with us to Orlando for the New Year's show.

After lunch,  we had just started a video of the movie "Kundun",  a story about the Dalai Lama of Tibet.   My sister-in-law couldn't finish the movie and wanted to start off on their trip back to Santa Barbara.   We decided to leave my other sister-in-law's house and all that good food and head on home and rest.

1:30PM PST
In Front Of Our House

We said good-bye to my sister-in-law and her family as they headed out on their way back home to Santa Barbara.

2:00PM PST
At Home

I pretty much took it easy all day,  although I got into a great practice session working out some very fast solo routines.   I was pleased with my progress today on the practice pad,  but I really practiced hard and felt fairly sore afterwards.

I watched "Raiders of the Lost Ark" with my wife and my youngest son.   We hadn't seen this movie in ages,  so I really enjoyed seeing it again.   My son ejoyed it imensely.

5:30PM PST
Daphne's Restaurant In Poway

We were too tired and exhausted to prepare dinner.   So I drove to a Greek Diner and ordered the special:   Lemon Chicken with green salad,  pita bread and rice.

7:30PM PST
Back At Home

I played on the Sony Playstation with my kids.   Then I spent time on the websites and checked email.    I've been so out of touch with the mailing lists and email in general.

10:00PM PST
At A Nearby Supermarket

Went out to return some videos over at Blockbuster Videos.   The clerk that checked out my movies recognized me from Big Time Operator.   He asked for my autograph and said it was for a friend named Heather.   I was honored to give the guy my autograph.   I felt weird,  but I went through this same type of situation at an Ice Cream Parlor a few months back.   It's weird that as the band gets popular,  more and more people begin to recognize us out on the streets.   I'm very flattered by all this,  but at the same time I feel pretty weird signing autographs like that out in public.

Went out to the local supermarket to buy a few things,  then went home.   I ended up watching a rerun of Saturday Night Live,  then checked email,  surfed the web and then retired to bed...
