Back To San Diego!

I had awakened to the sound of a telephone ringing this morning,  thinking this was my wake-up call to get up and get ready for the trip back to San Diego.  Instead,  it was Rick,  our guitarist, calling Jamie and I from down in the lobby of the Las Vegas Club.   Apparently we had overslept and hadn't heard the 6am wake up call,  and had awakened to the second call made by Rick.   The rest of the band had already been downstairs waiting for us,  all packed and ready to go.  Anyway,  after quickly getting ready and checking out,  we finally left Las Vegas at 7:35am.

The road home was uneventful,  just a group of tired,  weary musicians ready to go home to their significant others and family.   I listened to CDs throughout the entire trip to San Diego.  Listening to CDs has become an addiction for me lately,  and I've been listening to all sorts of music,  regardless of style.  I suppose all the diverse forms of music will somehow sink in and will improve my performance in some way,  making me a more well-rounded musician.   Hopefully,  that would be the goal anyway...

We made one stop somewhere south of the high desert near Victorville to gas the vans and use the restrooms.   As we pulled into the station I noticed an ambulance and a firetruck.   Some paramedics were administering to someone in a car.   For some reason I just didn't want to know what was going on there,  but just hoped that the person was going to live.

Some sort of motorcycle club had also stopped at this very gas station and the line to the restroom was quite long.   Since I hadn't had breakfast yet I bought a chicken quesadilla from the Del Taco inside this place.

After two weeks on the road it seemed that we all were a little tired of each other and were ready for a couple of days off.   So we all got back into the vans and headed onward...  the final stretch home.

We arrived at Warren's house around noon and had to wait a little bit for the cargo van to arrive.   We transferred our stuff from the cargo van to our vehicles (fortunately,  my van started up right away).   I gave Shannon a ride home, and then I made that final trip back to my home.   It had been a long two weeks for us and we had been in three out of the four corners of the continental United States.   It had been a tiring adventure and I was glad to be finally home!

I arrived home at 1pm,  and was enthusiastically greeted by my wife and two boys.  Yes,  it had been a long, grueling two weeks for my wife and the kids,  having to carry on without me.   I ended up spending the rest of the afternoon lounging about and not doing much of anything.

I ended up checking my email and found I had 1,496 messages in my inbox!!!   These messages were mostly from the mailing lists that I'm subscribed to.

After watching a video entitled "Clock Watchers" with my wife,  we prepared dinner and had a good old fashioned family dinner at the dining table.

I worked on the computer for awhile,  did a bunch of odd chores around the house.   Before I knew it,  it was time to tuck the kids into bed and tell them a bedtime story,  this event being a far cry from the routine of touring with the band all across the United States.

After taking a much needed 'hot bath',  I retired to bed early for a change,  knowing I would have a good couple of days to rest before starting again with our busy band schedule.  Somehow,  I remember slowly drifting off into oblivion...
