The Joys Of  Washing The Car
After doing my usual routine of getting the kids off to school,  and then driving my wife to work,  I decided to wash the car.   I could've taken it to the car wash and saved myself the extra work,  but I really felt like washing the car today.   There's nothing like the feeling of washing a new car and doing a good job,  and getting the interior all nice and clean.   It's all about 'time and care'.

A New Zoot Suit
I met with Warren at his house and we drove downtown to buy new suits for the tour.   We went to Lee's on Fifth Avenue.   When we walked through the door,  Rick,  Jim and Jamie were already there scopin' out the zoot suits and other suits with that vintage flair.   Right away I spotted a suit that I really liked.   I ended up trying a bunch of other fine suits,  but somehow I was drawn back to that first suit.   Warren really liked it,  and everyone else pretty much agreed,  and I ended up buying me a nice pinstriped zoot suit!   I just needed to have the buttons installed on the inside of the pants for the suspenders,  and have the legs tapered at the bottom.   Everything else fit quite well.   Jamie bought a nice pinstriped zoot suit himself,  and Warren bought another fine suit,  off-white in color.   Rick bought a nice maroon suit,  and Jim was undecided but was satisfied enough with the store that he'd want to check back  at a later time.

I Did Not Take The Express Lane...  Why?
After I picked up the kids from school and dropped them off at their cousin's,  I picked up my wife from work.   On the way home we decided to take the express lane because we were going to go further up north and do some shopping.   Well,  it was one of those days because I missed the exit to take the express lane and ended up driving into some serious traffic.   It was horrendous!   But we finally got to the store and shopped for a few things for the kids,  bought some gloves for the tour up north and some colored markers the kids were requesting for their school work.

Let's Buy The Kids Some Bath Robes
At the store,  we came upon some handsome looking bath robes.   It was one of those things in which they were expensive,  but we had to get them for the kids.   We put them in the basket,  then decided that these robes weren't  necessary.   Then we decided to get them and put them back in the basket...   well,  finally we had to say enough is enough...  let's get them.   Well,  at the very last moment just before hitting the checkout counter,  we dumped the robes somewhere and ended up not buying them anyway.   So much for being decisive parents.

Practice Time And The Buddy Rich Video
Spent some time,  maybe an hour and a half going over all my drum exercises on the practice pad.   At the same time I had the Buddy Rich video running.   I never get tired of watched that video.   In it there is film footage of his drum solos with the Artie Shaw Orchestra,  Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and the Harry James Orchestra,  plus stints with his own big band.   I'm always amazed at the speed and technical proficiency of his playing.   There's just no one that's come close to his technique,  ever.   I used to just dismiss him before like a lot of drummers have.   When he was alive he WAS sharp-tongued and very outspoken,  and rude.   But after buying three of his videos I have to admit that he was the world's greatest drummer.   Nobody's come close,  really...   and the stuff he did would take most great drummers a couple of lifetimes to master.   He was just toddler when he was doing solos with his parents vaudeville act.   The little clip of his drum solo as a toddler proves that he was destined for greatness!!!
