What do I like or dislike about these sites (layout or visuals)?
I like 731 Woodwork's page because of the type of content he provides. He primarily sells woodworking plans, but also sells some of his items. He does provide more content from the standpoint of how-to videos or tool reviews and tips. His site is a little unsettling to me, though. His menu header is on the small side with font pitch, but his product tiles are huge.
Samara Table Company has a header that looks like woodgrain. That's pretty interesting. Their site is pretty clean. It provides for quick views and the you can drill down for more information. They do have beautiful photgraphy for their images. I find that the font that they use on their About page is hard to read. It is almost like a ghost font.
Rusticwares has a large selection of products. More than the others from sheer volume of unique pieces. This will probably be closer to what I would have. It is a white, almost sterile, page. With the exception of their unique logo the page is not as visually appealing.
What type of content do they have on their websites?
731 has some wood working plans for sale along with a few items, but his site is more about content like how-to videos.
Samara is more about a few items that are customizeable but built around simplicity.
Rusticwares has lots and lots of individual items.
What types of images do they use?
For 731 his images are mostly animation.
Samara has very nice staged images of their products, where Rusticwares has plain photos for most of the items.
What color schemes do they use?
They are all stark white backgrounds with black font. Samara's does have a woodgrain banner along the top of each page that does seem to soften the pages and provide a uniqueness.
What layout styles and techniques do they use?
They all do have a menu that is stretched out along the top of the page. 731 seems to have a layout that is geared towrad social media presence, where the others don't seem like that as much..
