News:
(12/02/2007) Wow, I haven't updated in a while. Anyways, I've started another game, a 2D stealth game. I have a demo level almost finished, which I'll upload within a week.
(10/21/2007) The text adventure is done, or as done as it will ever get. Download it here.
(09/24/2007) Not surprsingly, my last game was recieved rather weakly. Surprisingly, I seem to have developed a whopping 2-3 person regular visitor base. In other news, I've started messing around in C, and have what'll probably be a long and confusing text adventure.
(08/19/2007) The game is finally done. Of course, I'll be adding more things as time goes on, meanwhile download it here.
(08/16/2007) The JFrame game is coming along nicely, but I'll still need a few more days to polish it up a bit. Expect the game August 20th.
(07/05/2007) Bad news: I'm in Russia until sometime mid-August, so no updates. Good news: since I'll have plenty of spare time, there will be a new game available for download within a week of me being back, with all the juicy features that weren't possible in Applet games, and some I've never done before, such as:
Saving progress and high scores!
Full keyboard support, not just alphanumerical characters!
Extended window control with JFrame!
Decent code organization this time around!
And (hopefully) much more!
(06/18/2007) I looked over the Unnamed Shooter's code and it seems to be way beyond salvaging into anything remotely useful. I might port it over to an application with my JFrame shell, since it seems like I'll have an extra semester to mess around with Java.
(06/17/2007) Wow, two weeks since the last update. Anyways, I've been messing around with JFrame for a while, so you won't see new Applet games any time soon. However, I might finish up the Unnamed Shooter soon.
(06/01/2007) Added my first non-game application: the QuadSolver. It solves Quadratic equations. Download the zip file here.
(05/27/2007) Minor tweaks, as well as placeholders for enemy images.
(05/24/2007) Added a new type of enemy.
(05/22/2007) Added grenades and modified damage scheme, fixed a few bugs
(05/19/2007) The nameless project became a game for my English class (loosely) based on Stephen Crane's "The Red Badge of Courage". Added sound and changed the gameplay. Added cheats, if anyone can find them ;-P.
(05/08/2007) Made some minor updates to the still nameless project.
(05/03/2007)Made a small new game/demo, involving a bunch of new features I've been working on.
(05/03/2007) Well, this is it. Public interest in College Custodian waned, and there isn't much more I can do. This is my last update for the game. Most likely the project will be restarted when The Tanooki gets enough members to fund the Wii game.
(23/04/2007) Added MouseMotionListener, full list of updates on the College Custodian page.
(22/04/2007) Added more sound effects, but some don't seem to work in IE.
(21/04/2007) Added bonuses. Only health packs are available now, but futher bonuses will be added later.
(20/04/2007) Minor update, but an important one. You can no longer deal huge amounts of damage just by holding your weapon over your enemy. You actually have to swing now. Also, I got a voice actor for the game, so when I decide to incorporate a story (soon!) it will be voiced.
(14/04/2007) Images no longer take several seconds to load once the game already started. This means no more vanishing background and enemies.
(14/04/2007) Another CC update. Major update coming soon. Hint: It's a boss and it will be hilarious.
(11/04/2007) More updates to College Custodian.
(10/04/2007) Well, I'm finally done. The Alpha version of the game is online and working fine. I suggest Firefox for this one due to high graphic intensity.
(10/04/2007) Good news for the exactly one person who checks the site regularly: my latest game plays original music now. What's more, it stops when you leave the page. Credit to Andrew Chong (chopstix182) for music. Major update coming soon.
(01/04/2007) Game development is going rough. The script guy hasn't been heard from in over a week. The April 7th due date will most likely not be met. In fact, the chances of a full version at this point are slim. To boost public interest, here's the link to the engine demo.
(23/03/200.7)
The game is coming along nicely. I have people on the music and graphics, with the engine almost finished. If all goes well, expect a playable demo of the game by April 7th.
(21/03/2007)I'm starting another Java game, with the idea coming from the Tanooki forums. With sufficient funding and luck, an improved version will make it to the Wii's Virtual Console service. I can't disclose what it's about, only that it will be my awesomest game yet.
Java
Games
Space Shooter: A downloadable side scrolling space shooter.
Shooting Game A bunch of features I've been messing around with ended up forming a game. It's even actually fun!
College Custodian Engine Demo This is the "big game" that I talked about in the news updates. This will (hopefully) eventually come out for the Wii's "Wii Ware" service. If not, it's still a good concept for a game, one I might actually end up finishing. In the meantime, here's the engine demo.
Generic Graphic Adventure A graphic adventure with no storyline or characters, loaded with media references. It's no Crimson Room, but still worth a laugh. Since this is a fully functinal engine, I might consider making a more engaging game in the future. New feature: I figured out how to import images. The graphics no longer suck!
Target Practice Shoot 10 targets as fast as you can. Try to beat your fastest time.
Duck Hunt My first experiment with Threading, or running two processes at the same time. Shooting Game Demo is a more advanced version of this game, with better graphics and way more features. This game lags and the MIDI effects sound horrible.
Applications
Non-games made in Java, mostly for class.
QuadSolver, a quadratic equation calculator, giving you the discriminant, nature of roots and the roots themselves. Uses FileIO, launches from command line.
Non-Java Games
Aside from online Applets, I've made a bunch of games that run as executables. Those games, unfortunately, cannot be played online, but you can download them here.
A text adventure game in C. Pretty short, not particularly difficult. It might see an update some time in the future.
Jedi Game This is one of my Turing projects, experimenting with rotating images. Click your mouse to either side to block incoming lasers.
Computer Destroyer Another Turing project, intended for my school's yearbook. Bash a computer with a crowbar.
Chuck Norris game Half-baked shooting game engine. Kick French homework as Chuck Norris.
Java Test Applets (With code examples and explanations)
