The Socorro Composite Squadron was officially chartered on 11 January 2007. The charter was formally delivered by New Mexico Wing Commander Colonel Frank A. Buethe in a ceremony at the Socorro Municipal Airport on 20 February 2007. The ceremony was attended by some 60 people and included representatives from the City of Socorro and U.S. Representative Steve Pearce.

After receiving the charter, the members have been busy establishing the training programs that will give our cadets and senior members the background and expertise they need to fulfill their assigned positions within the squadron. With aid from the NM Wing HQ and other squadrons, we are building this new unit into a valuable resource for our community.
