Socorro's CAP Squadron

Rewarding Opportunities for Adults and Cadets

The Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. The Socorro Composite Squadron is open to adults and cadets (ages 12-18). The three missions of CAP are Emergency Services, Aerospace Education, and Cadet Programs. Our Socorro members are involved in all three, and participate in a variety of exciting activities.

The CAP offers an impressive leadership, service, and aerospace education program for young people and an opportunity for valuable and important volunteer service to adult members. There are many jobs and specialties needed in CAP, including, but certainly not limited to, pilots, radio communications experts, and search-and-rescue personnel. Whether you bring needed skills or wish to learn new skills, CAP is your opportunity to grow.

We invite you to contact us and learn about the CAP, our activities, and the opportunities we can offer you.

Socorro CAP Members Meet National Commander

Members of the Civil Air Patrol's Socorro Composite Squadron met the CAP's national commander, Major General Amy Courter, fourth from right, at their New Mexico Wing Conference in Albuquerque, November 15 and 16. Major General Courter, formally installed in August, is the first female national commander in CAP history. At the New Mexico event, attended by members from throughout the state, she gave a presentation on the national organization and met in town-hall meetings with both cadets and adult members.

The Socorro members also had the opportunity to meet and hear pioneering aviation legend Mary Feik, after whom one of CAP's cadet achievements is named.
