Awards

The KCC has two different types of awards - Lifetime and Annual. The CKC also calculates annual awards.
The methods for chosing the winners are shown below, as well as links to the winners.


CKC Annual Winners

Only Keeshonden who have won Best of Breed or better are considered in these calculations. One point is
awarded for each dog beaten. The top three winning dogs for the year are published in DOGS IN CANADA magazine.

KCC Lifetime

Open to all Keeshonden, living or dead, regardless of ownership, who have produced an outstanding number of Champion offspring, OR who have excelled in either Conformation or Obedience. Only wins in Canada shall apply.

Current  Lifetime Awards Recipients

Application forms may be obtained from, and should be returned to, the Awards Secretary.

a) CHOF - CANADIAN HALL OF FAME - Conformation      Application
               - for dogs which have excelled in the conformation ring.

b) CHOF - CANADIAN HALL OF FAME - Obedience      Application
               - for dogs which have excelled in obedience trials.

c) COM - CERTIFICATE OF MERIT      Application
               - for males with 12 or more champion offspring
               - for females with 7 or more champion offspring

d) COMX - CERTIFICATE OF MERIT EXCELLENT      Application
               - for males with 25 or more champion offspring
               - for females with 10 or more champion offspring


KCC Annual

There are two categories of Annual awards - those that are awarded automatically, and those which must be applied for. Recipients must be owned by a KCC member. Names of recipients will be published in the July/August edition of our bi-monthly Newsletter.

AUTOMATIC AWARDS

Method of Calculating KCC Statistics
a) TOP SHOW MALE
           - based on the KCC statistics for Breed, Group and Best in Show wins, using the KCC system

b) TOP SHOW BITCH
           - compiled using the same system for the TOP SHOW MALE.

c) TOP KEESHOND
           - based on the number of Keeshonden beaten at BB and BO levels only.

d) TOP OPPOSITE SEX KEESHOND
           - compiled using the same system for TOP KEESHOND.

e) TOP PUPPY
           - winner to be determined by the KCC puppy point system.

f) TOP OBEDIENCE KEESHOND     
           - winner is determined using the KCC system based on qualifying scores.

g) TOP OBEDIENCE and CHAMPION of RECORD KEESHOND     
           - winner determined as for the TOP OBEDIENCE Keeshond, except that the dog must also be a Champion.


MUST APPLY FOR AWARDS

Owners must make application to the Awards Secretary before May 15th of the following year in which the award is applied for. Application forms may be obtained from the Awards Secretary.

a) BREEDER OF THE YEAR     Application
           - for the member/breeder of the largest combined total of champions and obedience titlists.

b) TOP STUD DOG     Application
           - for the dog siring the most champion offspring finished in the award year.

c) TOP BROOD BITCH     Application
           - for the bitch producing the most champion offspring finished in the award year.

d) TOP DUAL KEESHOND     Application
           - for the one Keeshond who has successfully competed in both conformation and obedience

e) MOST VERSATILE KEESHOND     Application
           - this award is for one Keeshond who has excelled in work other than conformation and/or obedience.
