Welcome to the
Keeshond Club of Canada

Our club was founded in November 22, 1971 by a group of people with similar interests - the welfare of the Keeshond breed in Canada. It was registered with the CKC on November 22nd of that year. The founding members were: Jean / Pat Croken, Linda Elliot (Zakowski), Rosella Helwig, Don / Ethel MacKenzie and Sid Estrin.

While the membership has changed over the years our goals have remained the same - to provide a medium for Keeshond owners and breeders to join together, with equal representation, for the betterment of the Keeshond breed in Canada.

We encourage and promote the breeding and exhibiting of quality Keeshonden which conform as closely as possible to the Official Canadian breed Standard. We encourage members to breed dogs with structurally sound bodies, correct temperaments, and to try to eliminate all hereditary problems by judicious selection and appropriate testing of all breeding stock. We hope to protect and advance the interests of the breed and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and obedience trials.

Within this site we seek to educate Keeshond fanciers and judges alike, with the inclusion of educational articles, plus photographs of the top winning dogs in Canada over the years.

For those of you looking for a Keeshond please go to our Breeders page, which lists breeders by province. On this page you will also find the tattoo numbers that have been assigned by the CKC to each breeder, which may help in the identification of an unknown Keeshond. You may also go to our Dogs Available page if you are looking for an adult or puppy.

If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or would like to contribute in any way please feel free to contact any of our Regional Directors or Executive members.

This and subsequent pages are under construction. If the information does not come up when you hit one of our links, please come back again at a later time.
