La Dicha Evangelical Church was the fruit of a series Bible Studies at the residence of Mr. & Mrs Virgilio V. Batan a member of Malangas Evangelical Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance at Pob. Malangas Zamboanga Sibugay. An Elder and Sunday school teacher o the said church requested to conduct Bible study in his house, attendance will be his responsibility. Rev. Marlito Catapan who was the Pastor at that time responded and a Bible study was conducted every Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. The bit was a sumptous snack after the session. Our attendance grew from Sunday to Sunday.
After a month, some requested to open a church in this barangay. Rev. Catapan transferred and delegated teh work to the incoming Pastor, Pastor Edwin Emia who continued the work till we decided to have a house worship church. He contacted those who are attending worship at Diplahan namely Mr. & Mrs. Vidal and children, Mr. & MRs. Baliquid and children. Mrs Abao and children, my very own family and children, Mr & Mrs. Rolando Vidal and children, Mr & Mrs. Tacsan and children. With these eight families, we open a house church on December 8, 1991 in the house of Mr & Mrs. Samuel Vidal who offered their home. Albeit this was done with proper permission and coordination of the two mother church the Christian and MIssionary Alliance. Pastor Emia facilitated our transfer with his coordination also, till we received the first intern in the person of Miss Nene Singson. We agreed to pay her tuition fee and her monthly allowance and her food and other basic needs.
Through the " we Spirit ' of the group, we purchased a church lot just adjacent to the house church with an area of 400 square meter. Inspired by the Holy Spirit we put up the first 12ft by 20ft church building, so that on March 14, 1993, that Sundaywe transferred to the newly unfinished church building and another family was added, the Nasara Family and children. Followed by the Jacolbe faily and more members added, so that 2 years after we complted the full measurement of the church and three years later we annex the church parsonage which was constructed separately from the church. After a year of operation, we registered the church and we were allowed to get interns. Miss Singson was the first, replaced by Jingjing Lomocso, followed by Ruly Degal, then Miss Sally Rose Talagtag, Miss Joy Manda and Miss Nelly Diayaras the last Intern. We are thankful taht almost all those interns did their best to let the church grow with the help of the members. One thing I observed regarding themembers was that they are cooperative and tithes conscious our budget grew from year to year. Believing that the church can already support a couple to Pastor the church we signified our intention and finally in 1998 Pastor and Mrs. Molina applied and became the first couple assigned up toe the Present. Under their leadership the church progress rapidly and we were able to create a daughter church at Del Pilar and Malongon.
Everybody is willing to use his/her gift thus the church progress not only its members, also physically and financially. We praise God for this knowing that without him we cannot expect of what we are now. As of this writing the church own a lot, set of drums, guitars, organ, sound system, 4W suzuki, church service for all the members who are staying far from the church and a projector. We are also supporting the pastors of our daughter's church, purchased a church lot of both and constructed a church building through the initiative of the mother church under the pastorate of Rev. & Mrs. Molina.
