Gypsy Girl Carmen

I have never seen Bizet's opera 'Carmen' (or any opera, for that matter), but I do have a gorgeousley illustrated picturebook of opera stories. Carmen is a smouldering, brazen young gypsy girl, who steals the heart of any man who lays eyes on her-- So, at some ungodly hour, I took up my faithful conte crayon and ink, and drew my own rendition of Carmen. I like how her facial expression looks very sassy and self-assured. She also looks a little bit nasty here... which quite suits her character. (The heartless creature broke poor Don Jose's heart! Boo! Hiss!) Sorry this image looks a little 'lumpy'. The actual drawing is quite large and I had to scan it in four sections and paste it together :P) Her head and body aren't in proportion to one another--- cos she's wearing a corset! yeah! That's it!
