Why the Bible is true series:

The unity of the Bible

The Bible was written over 1500 years yet it is completely unified and in agreement.  The Bible was written by over 40 authors on 3 different continents.  The Bible was written in 3 different languages; Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic.  The Bible is unified in its message, the redemptive work of Jesus Christ that reconciles man to God. Isaiah 1:18, 11:1-8, Ephesians 1:4, 3:10-12  “I will be their God and they shall be my people.”  Jeremiah 31:33b  The authors of the Bible range from fishermen to a shepherd boy (David) to a doctor (Luke) to kings (Solomon and Nebuchadnezzar) and more.  Even with the diversity of languages, backgrounds, times and locations of the authors they have a unified message.

Some of the many examples of the unity of the Bible are as follows:

Ø      The Bible states God exists.  Genesis 1:1, John 1:1, I John 1:1, Hebrews 11:6  These books were written at different times in different locations yet still agree on the existence of God.

Ø      The Bible states that God’s Word is inspired by God.  II Timothy 3:16,17, I Corinthians 14:37,  Jeremiah 1:9,12

Ø      The Bible states that man is a sinner by nature and by choice.  Genesis 3:1-13, Psalms 14:1-3, 53:1-3, 143:2, Romans 3:1012,23  Since we all are sinners we all need a Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ø      The Bible states that man must be reconciled to God through our Lord Jesus Christ.  John 3:16, I Timothy 2:5, Hebrews 9:15, Romans 5:10, Hebrews 2:14-17

Ø      The Bible states that faith is the necessary component to living for God.  The just shall live by faith & Eph 2:8,9; Hab 2:4, Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38

Ø      Hebrews 11:1  Faith is believing God will do what He says He will do.  We must accept the Bible by faith.  We can see tons of proof the Bible is real and true, but it takes faith to accept the Bible as the Word of God.  Hebrews 11:6  Without faith it is impossible to please God.  Romans 10:17  If we want to know for sure the Bible is true, we must study the Word of God.  II Corinthians 5:7;  Proverbs 3:5; Psalms 118:8  “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.”  God is perfect and not able to make mistakes, man by nature is imperfect prone to mistakes.  Who would you trust someone all powerful, all knowing, and perfect or an imperfect limited mistake prone person?

The unity of the Bible demonstrates the single author namely God.  Only God Himself can create such unity through such diversity of human authors, languages, cultures, etc.  The Bible was written over 1500 years yet it is completely unified and in agreement.  Even with the diversity of languages, backgrounds, times and locations of the authors they have a unified message of reconciliation of man to God.
