Heading northwest on US 167, not my favorite route, I couldn't help but notice that this field was on fire, the highlight of this stretch of road. Of note here is that February seems to be the month people go out and set their fields and yards on fire. I mean, everywhere I've ridden this month, there's been smoke. February is like March everywhere else and I guess the winds make it fun, visual and exciting. I believe the state is a breeding ground for pyromaniacs or there is just nothing else to do.The crops are in, LSU has whipped Notre Dame up and down the field, the Saints have stayed sober long enough to almost make it to the Super Bowl which is also history. Mardi Gras is around the corner but not quite happening in the countryside. Maybe that's it, yard and field burning is low cost pyrotecnics to warm up for Fat Tuesday.

It will also tear your sinuses a new one. Ray F, this ain't the month to visit.
