we've got you now (requirements)

I'm assuming that because you're looking at this page, you're already hooked on Key Club. If you're ready to join a year of fun, service, and style, read the following! This page will give you the heads up on how to join and earn credit for the best club ever.

REQUIREMENTS

All members must complete 40 hours of service. Now I know, 40 hours sounds like a lot of time to dedicate-- and it is, but not over a period of one year and not for students like you. Hours can be earned doing almost anything Key Club related. You can earn hours from our actual service projects, such as park clean-ups, soup kitchens, and child-mentoring projects. You can also earn hours by fundraising money. Everything you do for us counts. Attending a meeting will earn you credit, making us a poster, joining club committees to plan projects, writing an article for our bi-weekly newsletter, helping during a period to sell food during a bake sale, bringing food to sell at a bake sale... it all counts. We promise you it's not too hard. =)

Existing members also earned hours over the summer, in projects such as Read-and-Lead, which have been carried over. Summer service is a great way to jumpstart your credit and it is highly encouraged for all members.

Members must also attend 3/4 of all meetings. Meetings are held every Thursday unless otherwise noticed in room 334. We're the one with the giant gavel, banner, and golden bell, trying to speak over our member's excited voices. Some days, we even have food.

Last but not least, all members must play dues. Dues are $13 dollars this year and breakdown like this:

$6.50 goes to Key Club International (for things like Key Noter, membership cards, conventions...)

$5.00 goes to the district (for district convention, projects, newsletters...)

$1.50 goes to our club (for food, fundraisers, convention...)

And that's about it! As for all clubs, members must purchase an S.O. card for $5. Optional (but highly encouraged) is to bring a big smile and a great personality. Was that corny? I'm sorry, that's just me.

So in the quick list, here are your requirements:

  • Complete at least 40 hours of service

  • Attend 2/3 of all meetings

  • Pay dues

  • Purchase an S.O. Card
