Uncle Bill:
Uncle Bill is an enthusiast. He loves everything personal computer related. He loves building and buying and building some more. He loves gaming and talking about building for games and he loves computers, did I mention that?
Development Process:
I wanted to create a space where enthusiasts can come and enjoy everything that has to do with computers. A space where one could come to learn about new parts or building a new computer, sale old parts for older, better parts and where to hangout. Started with a news page, because whether you are brand new into the idea, you could enjoy news. Next is a swap page, over the years swapping old parts has become a real means of obtaining parts and everything is done through the pages that are linked. R/hardware swap is the mecca of this idea. A page where you can go to just find parts. PC part picker links for each component is the correct place. Without PC Partpicker, I would still be so far behind with this hobby. Then a how-to page, eventually this page will be full of videos and links to pages for everything related to building, maintaining and upgrading your PC. Then an about page because it’s required but also, I want to tell people about “Uncle Bill”.
Defense:
The final product is far from polished. With the amount of time this took me, I think with a few more months of constant updating and polishing this page could be a real website for people of all kinds to check out.
Opportunities:
This website has a long way to go. The layout is decent, but the color scheme is my biggest issue. It started as something sleek and clean but quickly changed for this ugly green and white thing because of the PCB background image I found. It worked at the time and I think it could be so much better. I like the idea of a background image that completely relates to the topic but there are lot of other options out there.
