| Nov 11th Blur tour Day 6th> BELGIUM at last, first stop Antwerp. Couldn't figure out why half of the pubs were closed expecially the 300 beer one. Oh its Nov 11th, Rememberence day. Found a small cafe with 20 or so Belgium beers. Clayton befriended some locals, turns out they are part of the local police marching band. Took a tour of police building...Photo's from the top (13th) floor.We finally settled into a small cafe downtown next the the cathedral with a hundred beers. Lots of variety in the beers, and every beer has its own glass. The fact that alot of the beers were in the 7 to 8 percent range for alchohol snuck up on us. Jesse the women to the left spoke very clear American english from spending grade 12th in New York. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| Antwerp Cathedral | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| Nov 12th Blur tour Day 7th> Second day in Antwerp. Toured the cathedral. Most of it has been restored beautifully. Impressive arches, intrically carved wood work, stained glass, and just the scale of the building is awe inspiring, expecially considering it is 500 years old. Lots of classical paintings adorn the walls and some frescos on the ceilings. Ken Klaus Ron and Spill met at Paters Vaetje pub for pizza and beers. Later at the 300 beer Kuminator pub, we did some vertical tasting of various vintages of Thomas Hardy, then sampled more belgain ales. Fantastic beer. Double Trouble blues bar, small small place, lively crowd, good Heogarden, and good band. Lead guitarist was a young Hollander, drummer and bass vocalist were from the States. Tight high energy band. Life is grand.... |
