| Nov 13 Sat, Blur tour Day # 8, Short drive from Antwerp to Brussels. To the Cantillion Lambic Brewery/museum. The tour guide spoke 5 languages, and was very entertaining and funny. Antiquated brewing equipment, large shallow open cooling vessels in the dusty attic so the beer will pick up natural microflora for fermentation. The celler was full of aging barrels of Lambic in various stages of fermentation. The barrels with young fermentations were spilling foam out of the bung holes. Finally the end of the tour and the tasting begins. Incredable aroma's and flavors... again!Wow was the natual lambic ever sour, expecially to my inexperienced palate. I wish I could taste it now expecially a few bottles of Gueze. |

| To Brussels town square, lots of historic buildings etc. . Various tour members doing various things. Spill got lost from rest of crowd. We checked out several cafe's etc. Umm belgian beers, great aromas, flavors and variety. The old streets off the grand place are narrow cobble stone, and head of at all sorts of crazy angles... easy to get confused and lost in. Lots of resturants and boutique shops etc. One beer led to another.. then most of the tour ended up in a blues bar. Good tunes, good beer I think. Suddenly people started leaving the bar... What is that stench. It seems a certain beer tourist (reg) let one rip. It cleared out the whole bar..... thus the legend of the blue note in the blues bar, was born. |
