truth isn't quite so depressing. Kate Spicer gets frank with five men,
to discover the hidden depths of their sexual psyche.

6.Do you enjoy cunnilingus? |
'It's lovely. I never get bored with it. You can't be overly precious about cleanliness.' |
'I had sex with a woman a couple of weeks ago and it involved us going back and forth between kissing and oral sex for hours, and we both orgasmed without penetration. That is what makes great sex.' |
'I love giving it to my girlfriend. i love seeing her enjoying it. But if you are going down on a girl and she isn't very hygeinic, it can be disastrous - I'd rather not have sex at all.' |

7. Is fellatio overrated? |
'Not really. But the very worst thing is when a girl tries to give you a blow job and she's just doing what she imagines to be a good blow job. Most women think that lubrication is the key, but you can lubricate too much. Deep throat is another thing most girls can't actually do without throwing up, or gagging. How enjoyable it is for me is mostly to do with the shape of the girl's mouth.' |
'Under- lubrication is the problem - the more spit the better. It's also a question of intensity - there's either too much pressure or too little, or the pressure doesn't vary enough. Oral sex should be animal, not clinical. It shouldn't be about a man giving a woman's pointers, it should be about wanton abandon. Basically, if a woman doesn't want to give her partner a blow job, she shouldn't - he won't enjoy it.' |
'The kind that begin with a lot of teasing and toying and gradually build up into a crescendo are rare and, to be honest, more likely to come from an older woman. They're much freer. If I'm lucky, I get between twenty and 30 good blow jobs a year. A bad blow job is terrible. It can be very upsetting if you're really in love with someone and you have to have a really frank conversation about the fact that it's not doing much for you.' |
'I think it can be overrated. Women aren't always gentle or sensitive. There can be lots of teeth, lots of lips, lots of spit. And if she doesn't want to give you blow job then that's horrid, too. You really feel it if she's doing it out of duty, which is awful. I think there's a lot of peer pressure on younger women to give great blow jobs and in my experience, the younger the woman, the more likely she is to want to. As women get older and grow more confident, they realise that giving a man a blow job isn't esential for great sex.' |
'You can definitely get a bad blow job. There was a stage when it didn't do much for me - it wasn't that my partner was doing anything wrong, it was just that I felt guilty looking down at her - I mean, technically it's a horrible thing for a woman to have to do. In the end, if a girl's not enjoying it, I'd rather she didn't bother.' |
8. Do you enjoy sex during menstruation? |
'Of course. It's the PMT that's a worry!' |

'I don't have sex with my girlfriend when she has her period - we wait. We have done it when we've had the urge, but I wouldn't recommend it.' |

9. What makes great sex? |
'A combination of factors - the setting, how you feel when you're out and whether it's new for you. If you remember a girl for that one night, then it always tends to be because of good sex.' |
