Pairing(s): Spike/Xander and others
Rating: NC-17
Summary: An old friend returns from Spike and Angel's past. Xander finds out things he never knew about himself. Vague enough for ya?
Warnings: Numerous mentions of rape and other badness.
Disclaimer: They don't belong to me, which is really bad `cause I wanted a set for Christmas. All original characters are mine
Author's Note: Okay, hi there. :smiles shyly: Well, I have a wonderful story for you, hopefully. I have a few comments to make. I am ignoring a lot of what is going on during Buffy and Angel. Some things just weren't working. :nervously runs hand through hair: Anyway, here's the basic changes.

Faith got out of jail for good behavior. She's going to be working with Angel and the others. I found a neat way to get around the curse, but that's in the story. They are still working in the hotel. I need the space.

Buffy's mom isn't sick. I'm not sure that I'm going to put Dawn in. She complicates things and trust me, this is going to be complicated enough. :sighs: I think that's all, anything else you'll probably notice.

Oh, the topic of rape comes up on several occasions. Bye now. :waves and heads back to computer:

"Here, she's all yours," the man announced as he shoved the twenty-year-old girl into the arms of the waiting vampires. The drugs in her system made her stumble, and the vampires caught her with greedy hands. One stepped forward to give the man some money.

"Why are you doing this? You're my Watcher, you're supposed to protect me!" she shrieked. The man looked her over and sneered. She struggled weakly against the hands holding her.

"You've been nothing but a burden since the day we met. If they want you, they can have you. For a price of course," he replied. He held up the small bag of gold then turned and walked away.

The girl struggled as much as possible, but the drugs had taken her strength. The vampires stepped closer.

"Never tasted a Slayer before."

"Bet she tastes real good."

"Bet she *is* real good."

"Let's take her for a ride." With that, the vampires attacked.

They dragged her into the confines of a nearby warehouse. She struggled uselessly as the vamps pushed her to the ground. Some of them ripped off her clothes, while one bit into her wrist. A scream tore out of her throat as the first vampire slammed into her.

As her blood flowed, her secret gift kicked in; she was a Healer. Her gift was working overtime trying to save her.

The attack went on for hours. Each of the six vampires raped her at least twice. At some point they started feeding her blood; her body's healing factor twisted it somehow. The vampires pulled away and passed out around sunrise. The sun beckoned to her from the door.

Rolling onto her stomach, she started to drag herself towards the open door, leaving a bloody trail behind her. When she reached the door, she slowly and painfully pulled herself to her feet. Taking one painful step at a time, she headed into the light. Her violet eyes flashed silver as anger filled her.

She was not the same anymore. Something during the attack has changed her. She was different. More vampire than human, more human than vampire. . . and still a Slayer.

Present Day

Xander could still remember the first time. He had been nine and in his room playing when his father had stormed up the stairs. The next thing he knew, he had been thrown into a wall. The beating had been quick, but painful. The next morning his father had been very apologetic. He even bought Xander a new toy truck.

Over the years, the beatings became more violent and frequent. His father stopped apologizing. Xander learned very quickly to stay out of his way, and was usually able to avoid any incidents. Unfortunately, today had not been one of those days. His father had caught him in the kitchen and nearly beaten him unconscious. When he was able to move again, he headed to the basement.

"Well, the Watcher said that I . . . What happened to you!" Xander glanced up and found himself staring into shocked blue eyes. Spike was gaping at him.

Xander opened his mouth and felt blood trickle out. He started to fall.

"Bloody hell!!" Spike reached out and caught the young mortal as he collapsed. The scent of blood was practically overwhelming, and Xander was trembling violently. Spike practically carried him over to the bed. Xander almost toppled over as Spike helped him to sit.

"Xander, who did this to you?"

"I can't . . . I can't . . ." Xander started to rock back and forth while shaking his head.

"It's okay. Do you have a first aid kit?"

"In the bathroom," Xander whispered. Spike nodded and headed into the bathroom. He returned with the kit, a washcloth and a bowl of steaming water. He started to gently wash the cuts on Xander's face. Xander was surprised at the honest concern in Spike's eyes.

"Take off your shirt."

"What?!" Xander yelped. He quickly pulled away from Spike's reaching hands. He stared at the vampire with fear practically falling off of him.

[What's got him so bloody spooked?] Spike raised his hands in what he hoped was a calming gesture. Xander was still staring at him in terror.

"Look, I just wanna tape up your ribs. Your breathin' sounds a bit off, pet," Spike explained. Xander took a deep breath then moved closer to Spike. He pulled his shirt off with a whimper of pain. Spike had to suppress a growl as he got his first look at Xander's chest.

Bruises were so close together that his entire chest was turning interesting shades of purple. His hissed as Spike gently touched his chest. The light touch caused sparks of pain to dance in front of his eyes.

"Xan, I think you should go to the hospital. Some of your ribs might be broken."

"No, I'm fine," Xander snapped. Spike caught a whiff of blood as Xander started coughing. Xander pulled away from Spike and fell. Spike rushed to his side to find that Xander was hunched over and coughing up blood.

"Xan?"

"Okay, we can go to the hospital," Xander gasped out.

"That's the first smart thing you've ever said," Spike remarked. He handed Xander a shirt then helped him to put it on. Arms wrapped securely around Xander's waist, Spike helped him to the car. Once Xander was comfortably seated, Spike gunned the car into motion.

"Uh Spike, I kinda wanted to reach the hospital alive." Xander's knuckles were white where he was clutching onto the dashboard.

"We will, pet."

"What's the hurry?"

"Gee, maybe it has something to do with the fact that you're coughing up blood," Spike snapped. Xander glanced at him in surprise. He thought that he heard worry in the vampire's voice. The rest of their relatively short ride was spent in silence.

Once at the hospital, Spike helped Xander into the emergency room. It was a quiet night, so Xander was taken in right away. Spike settled down to wait for him.

"Is there someone here with Alexander Harris?" a voice asked. Spike looked up to see a middle-aged doctor holding a clipboard. He got up and headed over to the man.

"I'm with Xander."

"Well Mr . . ." The doctor trailed off and looked at Spike expectantly.

"Brody, William Brody."

"Well Mr. Brody, I'm Dr. Harding. Alexander has sustained some very interesting injuries. Do you know how he got them?"

"No, I found him coughing up blood so I brought him here."

"So you don't know what happened?"

"No."

"William, this may be hard to hear, but your friend has been beaten and raped," Harding explained.

Spike stared at him in shock. Xander, sweet, caring Xander, had been raped. Then rage started to fill his eyes. "Is that what caused the bleeding?"

"No. He bit down on the inside of his cheek quite badly. Most of the blood ran into his lungs."

"So, he's not bleeding internally?"

"No. He has a few cracked ribs and some minor cuts and bruises. There are also some bite marks on his shoulders."

"Bite marks?"

"His attacker bit him. Now, I called the contact number on his forms. What would you like me to tell his friends when they arrive?"

"What?" Spike asked. He was staring at the doctor in confusion.

Harding sighed. "I know this is a lot to absorb, but I need to know what to tell his friends. Alexander is not handling this very well."

Spike thought briefly. "Will they buy that he's been mugged?"

"They should."

"Then tell them that. Can I see him?"

"Down the hall on the left. Room 236," Harding responded.

Spike nodded his thanks and headed down the hall. He was worried about the whelp. They teased Xander about being demon bait, but it had been a human who had injured him.

Spike cautiously entered the room to find Xander staring at the wall. "Xan?" Spike called. Xander turned to face him. The pain in his eyes tore into Spike's heart. "Can I come in?"

"Sure," Xander replied. Spike walked into the room and pulled a chair over to the bed. He sat down and studied Xander. The boy looked pale.

"How are you?" Spike was surprised at the concern in his voice.

Xander shrugged. "What are they going to tell Giles and the others?"

"That you were mugged."

Xander's eyes widened in surprise. "Why would the doctors tell them that?"

"Because I told them to. I figured you didn't want them to know," Spike replied. He reached out and gently squeezed Xander's hand. Xander smiled faintly then started to twist the blanket in his fingers.

"He's never . . . I mean, he's always hit me, but he's never . . ." Xander trailed off and looked down. When he looked up again, his eyes were full of tears. "Why? Why did he do that to me? Did I do something wrong? Spike, tell me what I did wrong."

Spike sat on the bed and pulled Xander into his arms as the young man started to sob. Spike stroked the dark hair and murmured soothing words. After a few moments, Xander started to calm.

"You didn't do anything, pet. It wasn't your fault."

"I must have done something to deserve this," Xander whispered. He pulled away and wiped his eyes.

"Xander, look at me," Spike commanded. Xander reluctantly raised his eyes. "You did nothing to deserve this, Xan. You are a sweet, caring person who always puts others before himself. You didn't deserve this."

Xander was staring at him with hope brimming in his eyes. "Do you really mean that, Spike?"

"Yes."

"Spike, I don't, I don't think I can go back there."

"Why don't you stay with me?"

"Spike, I'm not going to stay in a crypt."

"I've got a place in town, pet."

"You have an actual place?"

"Yeah."

"Then why do you spend so much time bothering us?"

"Bored," Spike replied. He stood and headed towards the door.

"Where are you going?"

"Well, I'm sure that the Slayer wouldn't be happy to see me. Might try and put a stake in me. The Watcher'll wanna take ya home. I'll be waitin' for ya, pet."

"Promise?" Xander asked. His voice was hesitant. "You don't have to promise. Anya promised to always be around, but then she left me. She broke up with me."

"Did she now? Well, she's a silly bint."

"Really?"

"Yeah. All normal people would keep a guy like you."

"Thanks, Spike."

"Later, pet," Spike stated. He waved goodbye and slid out the door.

Moments after he left, the entire gang showed up. As they drowned him in words, Xander found himself wishing for a pair of concerned blue eyes.

Part 2:

Xander sighed as he walked into his basement apartment. He had managed to convince Giles that he could walk to the door on his own. Looking around, he noticed that all of his stuff was missing. Xander frowned in confusion.

"Took you long enough, pet," Spike drawled. Xander turned to see the vampire leaning casually against the door to the bathroom.

"Where's my stuff?"

"In boxes in my car."

"You packed?" This was said with mild disbelief.

Spike shrugged. "I was bored. You took too long."

"Everyone insisted on making sure that I was okay. Giles even wanted to walk me to the door."

"What, you two dating now?" Spike teased. Xander gave a weak chuckle and moved away from the door. He started to fall as soon as he lost the support of the wall. Spike was at his side in an instant, and Xander found himself caught in a strong grip. "Let's get goin', pet."

"Good idea," Xander remarked. And so, for the second time that day, Xander found himself being helped into Spike's car. He watched with interest as they drove to one of the nicer areas of town. His eyes widened in surprise as they pulled into the underground lot of the most expensive apartment building in Sunnydale.

"We're here, pet."

"Here? Spike, can you actually afford this place?"

"I've got money, Xan. Come on," Spike announced. He got out of the car and grabbed a black duffel bag.

"What's in that?"

"The rest of your stuff. Everything else is already in the apartment." Spike helped Xander out of the car and led him to the elevator. They stepped in and rose to the lobby. Spike led them to the front desk. The thin, middle-aged man who was stationed behind the desk looked up when they approached.

"Mr. Brody! What a pleasant surprise!"

"Hello, Walter. This is Mr. Harris. He'll need a key to the front door and the apartment."

"Yes, sir," Walter replied. He handed Xander two keys with a professional smile, although his eyes widened slightly when he saw the damage done to Xander's handsome face.

Xander nodded his thanks and followed Spike to the elevator. Once inside, he collapsed against the nearest wall. "Brody?" he asked.

"That's my name, Xan."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"Cool. So, is your place big?"

"It's a penthouse, Xan. It's nice and cozy," Spike drawled. The elevator doors opened and Spike led Xander to the apartment.

Xander's jaw dropped in awe as he was propelled into the apartment. The place was amazing. "Spike, this place is so cool."

"Thanks, pet. Your room is down on the right. Just don't open the drapes. They keep the sun out and I don't fancy goin' up in smoke. Enjoy your stay," Spike announced.

Xander smiled softly and headed to his room. All of his stuff had been put away. He smiled again as he flopped down on his new bed. It looked like he had a new and safe home. Strange that it was with a vampire.

The irritating ringing of the phone woke Angel from a deep sleep. He groaned and flung an arm over his eyes. However, the continued ringing caused the figure in his arms to stir.

"It had better be important," Wesley grumbled.

"Tell me about it," Angel agreed. He reached out and grabbed the phone off the night table. "What?"

"Where are you?" Cordelia snapped. Wesley could hear her anger over the phone. He sighed and settled more firmly into his lover's side.

Angel wrapped his free arm around Wesley. "Well, since I answered the phone, I'd say I'm at home."

"What are you doing?"

"I was sleeping."

"Is Wesley with you?"

Angel sighed in annoyance as Wesley started to chuckle. "What do you want?"

"God, ever since you found out that the cure meant you could do anything you wanted as long as you don't sacrifice a virgin, the two of you have been boinking like bunnies."

"Cordelia, do you actually want something?"

"Kate called and said she was bringing Faith by in about an hour. You two need to get up."

"Thank you, Cordelia," Angel sighed. He hung up the phone and turned his attention back to the man in his arms. He found himself staring into a pair of loving eyes.

"Are we really that bad? She said bunnies." Wesley propped his chin on his hand and studied Angel.

"Wes, we've been in this room for three days."

"Oh, good point. Does this mean we have to get up?" Wesley asked. His eyes were sparkling with mischief. Angel laughed and caressed his lover's cheek. Wesley leaned into the light touch.

"I can't get enough of this."

"What?"

"You. I can finally have you. It's like a dream."

"One I never want to wake from," Wesley murmured. He slid up Angel's chest to capture his lips in a kiss.

Angel threaded his fingers into the dark hair and pulled Wesley closer. Their tongues twined lazily. Wesley pulled away with a smile and licked his way along Angel's jaw. "Wes."

"Mmm?"

"We need to get up."

"Shower?"

"I'll wash your back," Angel offered. Wesley chuckled and climbed out of the bed, and Angel followed him to the bathroom. They climbed into the shower together.

Angel washed every inch of his new lover, including his hair, which Wesley allowed with an amused smile. Once Angel finished, Wesley gave the same attention to his lover. Thankful for the hotel's water heater, they emerged while the water was still warm.

"Angel?"

"Yeah, babe?" he responded.

Wesley smiled at the pet name. "The only clothes I have with me are three days old. Can I borrow some of yours?"

"You want to wear my clothes?"

"It's either that or I walk around naked."

"Naked?" Angel remarked. He walked over and slid his arms around Wesley's trim waist. "I like that idea."

"Really? So you want me to parade around in front of the others with no clothes on?"

"No. I'll get you some clothes," he stated. He rummaged around until he found clothes suitable for Wesley. Once they were both dressed, they shared one more kiss before heading downstairs. Cordelia and Gunn were waiting for them.

"Well, it took the two of you long enough," Cordelia snapped.

"Nice to see you too, Cordelia," Angel commented. He sat on the couch and pulled Wesley to him. Wesley settled himself in Angel's arms and rested his head against the strong shoulder as Angel wrapped his arms securely around his lover.

Gunn raised his eyebrow at the pair. "Are they gonna be like this all the time?"

Cordelia rolled her eyes. "Probably. He and Buffy were always touching."

"Great. How we supposed to solve any cases if they keep pausing to make out?"

"We're sitting right here!" Wesley snapped. His response was a raised eyebrow from each of them. Angel chuckled and pulled the ex-Watcher even closer.

Kate chose that moment to walk into the hotel. She paused in the entrance to stare at them.

"Kate, I . . ."

"It's okay, Angel. He makes you smile. I'm happy for you," she stated. She even gave him a small smile. Angel stared at he in stunned amazement. Kate cleared her throat. "Well, I brought Faith with me."

Kate moved to one side to let the Slayer in. Faith slowly entered the hotel. Her long, brown hair was pulled back into a ponytail, and her dark, brown eyes were wary. She timidly stepped by Kate.

Wesley got up and walked over to her. "It's nice to see you again, Faith."

She shyly accepted the offered hand. "Wesley, I'm . . ."

"We'll work on it. Why don't you come and sit down?" he suggested. Faith smiled softly and allowed Wesley to lead her to one of the couches.

Angel moved to talk to Kate. "So, how is she?"

"Faith?" At Angel's nod, she sighed. "She seems much more subdued than she was before."

"Is that bad?"

"I'm not sure. It almost seems like she's afraid to be herself."

Angel sighed. "What should we do?"

"Go easy with her; she just needs time. You've given her a job here and a place to live?"

"Yeah."

"Well, everything should be fine. Just make sure that she makes it to all of her parole meetings."

"I will."

"She's also going to need some new clothes."

"I can handle that."

"Good. I'll see you later," Kate replied. She smiled softly and left with a small wave.

Faith was sitting on the couch and talking softly with Wesley, so Angel moved over to Cordelia and Gunn. They were leaning against the desk and studying the pair on the couch.

"So, she's the girl who beat up Wes?" Gunn remarked.

Angel sighed. "Yes."

"She doesn't look like much."

"She's a Slayer, Gunn."

"So?"

"So? Faith could toss you across this room without breaking a sweat," Cordelia snapped. She was eyeing Faith and Wesley with suspicion. "Angel, she won't hurt Wesley, will she?"

"No."

"How can you be so sure?"

"She knows if she hurts him, I'll kill her," Angel replied bluntly. Cordelia turned to look at him. She could tell that he was serious.

"Well," Gunn said clearing his throat. "We should go make nice if she's gonna be working here."

"Right," Cordelia agreed. They moved over to Wesley and Faith.

Angel watched as Gunn introduced himself. Wesley looked and caught his eye, and the smile he flashed Angel made the vampire tremble with desire and love. He had never felt emotions this strong before. Wesley meant everything to him.

Smiling once again, Wesley turned his attention back to the conversation. Angel had a feeling that things were going to get much more interesting in LA.

*****

"What the hell are these!?!" Xander demanded.

Spike, who had just walked in the door, stared at the agitated brunet in confusion. They had been living together for two months and this was the first time Xander had ever yelled at him. Spike wasn't sure how to handle it. He swallowed nervously. "They look like CDs, pet."

"Very good. They happen to be the new albums by six of my favorite groups. Is this some kind of joke?"

"What? They're for you."

"Really?" Xander laughed. He tossed the CDs onto the counter next to the box Spike had put down. "You expect me to believe that you remembered my birthday when all my friends forgot?"

"They forgot? Xan, I'm so . . ."

"Stop. Just stop. I don't want to hear it. I thought we got past this. I thought we were friends."

Spike's brow wrinkled in confusion. "We are."

"No, we're not. Friends don't buy each other gifts they can't use. I don't have a CD player, Spike. My father threw it at me," Xander snapped. He wiped at the angry tears that had formed in his eyes. "I really should have known better. You haven't changed at all! You don't care!"

"Xan . . ."

"No! I don't want to talk to you. Get out."

"What?"

"Just get out! I should never have believed you. I never want to see you again!" Xander shouted. Spike studied him for a moment then turned and left. Xander lasted an entire minute before he collapsed onto the counter stool. "Oh, God."

He dropped his head onto his arms and started to sob brokenly. A cool, damp touch startled him out of his misery. He glanced up into the slit-pupiled eyes of Cleo, Spike's cat. The grey and black tabby licked his nose.

Xander had been surprised to find out that Spike owned a cat. He was even more surprise when he found out how pampered Cleo was; Spike absolutely adored her. Xander reached out and scratched her head.

"Hey, Cleo."

Cleo nuzzled her head against his hand. Purring softly, she licked tears off his cheeks.

"I did something really stupid," he confessed to the feline.

Cleo tilted her head and studied him.

"I yelled at Spike. He probably didn't even realize that the CDs were a bad idea. It just hurt so much."

Cleo nuzzled his hand again. Xander emitted a watery chuckle as she nipped his fingers.

"It probably wouldn't hurt so much if I weren't in love with him," Xander sighed. He sat up and ran a hand through his unruly brown hair. "I guess he just doesn't love me. No one ever does."

Cleo moved away from Xander to the small box on the table. She batted it towards him. Xander took it from her with interest. His name was scrawled across the top in Spike's familiar handwriting. Xander opened the box and pulled out a folded piece of paper. Carefully unfolding it, he started to read.

[When I look into your eyes
I drown in a sea of chocolate
The rich warmth of you eyes
Warms me to the core

You are my bright spot
My very own ray of sunlight
Your very presence brings me joy

The soul you hold is so pure
Pure enough to banish the darkness from my heart

I found you when I needed you most
You brought light to my life
And once again allowed me to feel
Feel the serenity of love
The warmth of passion
The joy of comfort

I have nothing left to fear
For I cannot act without you
You hold my heart in you hand

You are a precious spirit
I want nothing more than to keep you safe
Away from the evils of the world
Where you will never be harmed again

I love you with my entire being
And when you leave
So will my life

Happy Birthday Xanluv
You hold my heart
Spike]

Xander dropped the paper with a rapidly beating heart. Spike loved him. He felt his heart lurch. He had yelled at and insulted the man he loved. As his head flopped back onto the table, he heard a clunking noise. Inside the box were keys to a jeep.

"Oh my, God. He didn't," Xander breathed. A few weeks ago, Xander hand mentioned that he had always wanted a jeep. He couldn't believe that Spike had actually bought one fore him. Grabbing the keys, he knew what he had to do. He had to find Spike and make everything right.

Cleo watched him leave with a cat's knowing gaze.

*****
Part 3:

Spike stormed into Giles' apartment. As expected, they were all there; Giles, Buffy, Riley, Willow, Tara and even Anya. She had decided to stick around after she broke up with Xander.

"Well isn't this nice," Spike drawled. They all looked up at his outburst.

Buffy's eyes narrowed in annoyance. "What are you doing here?"

"Gee, I could ask you the same thing."

"What?"

"Here you all are while Xander spends his birthday alone," he snapped, then watched as the realization dawned on all of them.

"Oh goddess no," Willow cried. She flung herself into Tara's arms as she dissolved into tears. They all started talking at once, and Spike slipped out the door, disgusted with every last one of them. He was on his way to his crypt to get drunk and have a good cry. Hopefully, his heart wouldn't hurt as much in the morning.

*****

Xander slammed the jeep into park and vaulted out the door. He felt even worse than he had when he left. The jeep had a CD player that held six CDs; the CDs Spike had given him were for the car. He ran up the walkway and burst into Giles' apartment.

"Where's Spike?" he demanded. Willow jumped up and launched herself into his arms. He caught her with concern clouding his features. "What's wrong?"

"I'm so sorry, Xander. I can't believe that I forgot your birthday."

"What?"

"Spike came and yelled at us and . . ."

"Where is he?" Xander interrupted. Everyone quieted at his outburst. They had never heard him interrupt Willow before.

"Who?"

"Spike! Where the hell is he!?!" Willow's eyes widened at Xander's bellow. She quickly backed away from him. The others were all staring at him in concern.

Buffy stepped forward and put a hand on his shoulder. "Xander, are you okay?"

"Just tell me where Spike is. Please."

"I think he went to his crypt," Giles stated.

"Thanks." Xander pulled away from Buffy and rushed out the door. He could hear people following.

"Xander, where are you going?" He ignored the voice behind him and jumped into his jeep, the tires squealing as he gunned it into motion. He saw the others jump back as he peeled away from the curb.

Xander made it to the cemetery in record time. He locked the jeep as he ran for the crypt; he didn't want his new gift to get stolen. Then he raced through the cemetery, panting by the time he entered the crypt.

He glanced around the darkened interior. "Spike?"

"What do you want?" Spike answered. Xander saw him seated on the floor leaning against a wall. The was a half-empty bottle of Jack Daniels in his hand. When he looked up, there were tear tracks on his face. "You can't possibly have anything else to say."

"Actually I do," Xander replied. He moved over and knelt in front of Spike. "I'm so sorry."

"For what?"

"Everything. I was just so upset about everything and these last two months of my life have been the best ever." He gazed up at Spike, trying desperately to show his sincerity.

"Really?" Spike asked softly, hope starting to show in his tear-filled eyes.

"Of course! When I saw those CDs, I jumped to conclusions. I thought you didn't love me," Xander whispered. Tears were starting to fall from his eyes.

Spike leaned forward and cupped Xander's cheeks. He gently wiped the tears away with his thumbs. "Xander, I do love you. I love you more than anyone in my entire life."

"I know. I found the poem."

Spike ducked his head shyly. "Do you like it?"

"I love it. And I love you." Spike's head snapped up so fast that he smacked it against the wall. Xander moved forward and caught him as he fell. "Are you okay?"

"You love me?"

"Yes, I love you," Xander repeated. Spike flashed him a dazzling smile, and Xander felt his heart melt. He had never seen Spike smile that before. It was a pure smile, one full of happiness. Xander reached out and touched his cheek. "You are so beautiful."

Spike shook his head with a laugh. "No I'm not."

"Yes, you are. You're like a work of art carved out of marble."

"Xan . . . I . . ." Spike ducked his head shyly. Xander caught Spike's chin with his finger and tilted the blond's face towards him. There was a shy smile on his face.

"Spike?"

"Yeah?"

"Can I kiss you?" Xander asked. Spike swallowed nervously and nodded. Xander leaned forward and gently pressed his lips to Spike's. The first brush of lips was hesitant, then Xander ran his tongue over Spike's lips and urged him to open his mouth. When Spike's lips parted, he slid in with a groan.

Xander slid his hands under Spike's duster as he hungrily mapped the blond's mouth. Spike pulled the eager mortal into his arms, and Xander melted into the loving embrace. He pulled away only when air became necessary.

"Wow," Xander breathed, resting his head against Spike's shoulder. Spike wrapped him securely in his arms. Xander sighed happily. "I love you."

"Love you too, pet. We should get goin'."

"Where?"

"Home. It's gettin' cold."

"I thought the cold didn't bother vampires?"

"It doesn't. I was just thinking about you, luv."

Xander tilted his head up and smiled. "That's very sweet."

"Just don't say anthin' 'bout this that to the others. It'll ruin my image if they know I've gone soft."

"You have?"

"You've got me wrapped around your finger, Xan. I'd do anything to keep you safe," Spike replied. Xander smiled and placed another kiss against Spike's willing lips. He broke away with a smile and stood up.

"Come on, let's go home," he said. Spike accepted the offered hand and got to his feet. Looping an arm around Xander's waist, he steered his love out of the crypt.

"So, do you like the car, pet?"

"I love it. I can't believe that you bought it for me."

"You said you wanted it."

"But you actually bought it for me. That's so cool."

"I'm glad it makes you happy," Spike answered. They kissed once more before they climbed into the jeep. They drove back to the apartment in a comfortable silence.

When they got back into the apartment, Cleo twined around Spike's ankles. He reached down and picked her up. She started to purr happily. "Miss me, precious?"

"She's just happy that she got her way."

"What do ya mean, pet?"

"She sent me after you."

"Really? What a smart cat," Spike quipped. He leaned across the cat and brushed his lips across Xander's. Cleo squirmed out of his arms and headed over to her food dish. Spike hung up his duster then turned to Xander. "So, what do you want to do tonight, pet?"

"Make love to me?"

"What?" Spike yelped. His eyes widened as Xander ducked his head and blushed.

"Make love to me?" Xander repeated in a barely audible whisper.

Spike pulled the blushing mortal into his arms, and Xander buried his face in the soft material of Spike's shirt. "I would like nothing more than that," he whispered back.

"Really?"

"Always," Spike stated. He gently tugged Xander into his bedroom. They paused at the foot of the bed to kiss softly. After a few minutes, Spike pulled away and started to slowly unbutton the mortal's shirt. He could hear Xander's heart rate increase with nervousness. Spike pushed the shirt from his shoulders and ran his arms down Xander's bare back.

The sensation of the cool fingers running over his warm flesh caused Xander to shiver. He gasped as Spike licked the pulse point on his neck. His fingers curled around Spike's waist as the blond nipped at his shoulder. "Oh God."

"Construction work has done you good, pet."

"Re . . . really," Xander stammered. His breath was coming in short pants as Spike traced the outline of his chest muscles.

"Yeah, made you gorgeous." Spike continued to lick Xander's neck. He moved his way up to the mortal's jaw and nipped his way to Xander's lips. Xander kissed him back ravenously. Then Spike released Xander just long enough to pull his shirt off. He gasped as Xander's hot hands traveled over his body, and pulled Xander to him with a groan. They fell onto the bed in a tangle of limbs, Xander's jaw cracking off Spike's collarbone.

"Ow," he muttered. Spike reached up and rubbed Xander's sore jaw. Xander pouted at him.

"Sorry pet. I'll make it up to you."

"Okay," Xander agreed, then leaned down and captured Spike in a hungry kiss. Spike slid his hands down Xander's back to rest at the mortal's waist. He gripped tightly as Xander licked his neck. Grinning impishly, Xander bit Spike's shoulder. When Spike's hands slid down to grasp Xander's ass, Xander gasped and thrust down.

They both moaned as their erections came in contact. Groaning, Xander started to frantically fumble with Spike's belt. He could feel the blond's hands opening the fly of his jeans. His own hands stilled as Spike's cool fingers worked their way inside his boxers. Spike grinned and wrapped a hand around Xander's straining erection.

"Oh, oh God, Spike!" Xander moaned. His head fell forwards as he thrust into the vampire's grip. Spike's free hand twined into Xander's hair and pulled the mortal into another kiss. Using his vampiric strength, he rolled them over so he was on top of Xander. Xander started squirming, whimpering as he tried to get more contact with Spike's skin.

"Hush, pet," Spike commanded. He held Xander's arm down and started to lick his way down his lover's chest. Spike paused to tease Xander's nipples with his tongue. It wasn't long before Xander was writhing back and forth, muttering incoherent words of pleasure.

Spike released the nipples and moved down Xander's torso, tracing the outlines of the mortal's muscles with his tongue. He released his hold on Xander's arms and traced his ribcage with cool fingertips. By the time Spike reached his navel, Xander was reduced to uttering tiny mewls of pleasure. Spike curled his fingers around Xander's boxers and jeans and started to pull. Xander obediently lifted his hips.

Spike studied the naked mortal in front of him. "You're so beautiful."

"Spike," Xander breathed. Spike smiled and quickly slid out of his pants. Xander gasped as he came in contact with Spike's bare flesh. He ran his hands over Spike's back as he pulled the vampire in for another kiss. They kissed lovingly as their passion rose. Everywhere they touched seemed to burn with fire. Spike pulled away and looked deep into Xander's eyes.

"Can I?" he asked, and Xander nodded. Spike reached into the night table and pulled out a tube of lube. He squeezed a generous amount onto his finger than moved his hand to Xander's entrance. Spike kept his eyes locked on the loving brown ones as he slid a finger in. Seeing no resistance or pain, he worked in another finger, twisting to hit Xander's prostate. By the time Spike was using three fingers, Xander was moaning in ecstasy.

Xander groaned with loss as Spike removed the fingers. He opened eyes that had drifted shut to find blazing, blue eyes staring at him. Spike lubed himself, then slid into Xander slowly. He paused often to allow Xander to get used to him. In a few moments, he was completely sheathed.

The feeling of Xander's tight heat surrounding him almost sent Spike over the edge. Once he had himself under control, he started thrusting. Xander cried out as each stroke hit his prostate. Spike reached between them and grasped Xander's erection, pumping in time with his thrusts. Their pace built until they were both crying out in pleasure.

Xander flung his head back and cried Spike's name as he climaxed. The tremors in his body caused his muscles to clench, wringing Spike's orgasm from him. Spike felt his face shift as he climaxed, and he flopped onto Xander panting for unneeded air. Xander moaned in protest as Spike started to pull away.

"Hush, luv. I'm just gonna get something to clean us up. Don't wanna stick together now, do ya?"

"No."

"Then just stay right here, luv," Spike responded. He quickly dashed to the bathroom and returned with a damp cloth. Smiling at his love, he cleaned up the evidence of their passion.

"Done now?"

"Yep."

"Then get back here. I'm lonely," Xander stated. Spike laughed and pulled the covers up as he climbed into bed. He wrapped himself around the mortal. Xander sighed happily and kissed the top of the blond head. "Love you."

"Love you."

"Really?"

"Of course."

"Spke, I never thought I would feel this way. I've never loved anyone this much."

"Same here, pet. I don't know what I'd do without you," Spike replied. He gently kissed Xander's neck. They fell asleep wrapped securely in their love.

Willow unlocked the apartment door with the key that Xander had given her. She still felt awful about yesterday. She couldn't believe that she had forgotten her best friend's birthday. In an effort to make up for it, she'd gone a bit overboard; her arms were full of presents.

Grunting under the weight of her parcels, Willow kicked the door shut and put the bags down with a sigh. The bags hadn't seemed that heavy earlier. A cat started to twine around her ankles. Willow reached down and absently stroked the soft fur. Xander had never mentioned a cat.

Willow started to explore the apartment looking for Xander. She couldn't believe that he could actually afford the place. Opening a door, she found herself looking at an empty bedroom. All of Xander's belongings were strewn carelessly around the room. Xander's bed was actually made, so it was obvious that he hadn't slept there.

Frowning, Willow opened all the doors in the apartment. She had one more door left and she still hadn't found Xander. She was starting to think that he was out. Willow froze in shock when she opened the last door.

Deep red, satin sheets were draped over the intertwined bodies of Spike and Xander. Spike himself was draped over Xander's muscled chest with a content look on his face. Willow had never seen him look so relaxed. Her shock was slowly turning into understanding. She knocked on the wall.

"Good morning," she called. Blue and brown eyes flew open to stare at her. Both men seemed frozen in fear. Her smile widened. "I came to apologize, but it seems like your birthday turned out fine."

"Willow! What are you doing here?"

"She just mentioned that, pet," Spike remarked. He was nervously clutching at Xander's waist, and Willow could see fear creeping into his eyes. Xander instinctively ran a hand along his arm to calm him.

"So, when did this happen?" Willow asked. She sat on a nearby chair and looked at them expectantly.

"Last night. Willow, I love him and he loves me."

"Good. If you didn't, I'd have to punish both of you." Then she grinned. "You two just helped me earn ten bucks."

"How?" Spike asked. Willow's easy acceptance had caused him to relax. He no longer feared losing his Xander.

"After last night, Buffy bet me that you guys weren't together. I won."

"Are you really okay with this?"

"Xander, if you're happy, then I'm happy for you. Tara knew you guys were in love ages ago. I'll let you get dressed," Willow responded. She smiled brightly and left the room, closing the door behind her.

Spike moved so he was hovering over Xander. "Morning, my love."

"Morning." Xander tilted his head up and gently kissed his lover. Spike happily nibbled on Xander's lower lip. They were both smiling when they broke away.

"So, wanna have sex?"

Xander laughed and stroked Spike's cheek. "Willow's waiting for us. You can make love to me later."

"Maybe Red can help us move your stuff in here."

"You really want me to move my stuff in here?"

"Want you with me always. I love you."

"Love you. Let's get up before Willow starts trying to make breakfast."

"Anything you say, luv," Spike agreed. He lightly kissed Xander's nose then climbed out of bed. He quickly dressed then tossed Xander some clothes. They shared a brief kiss before leaving the room. Willow was beaming when they came out, and Xander smiled back at her. It seemed as though his friends just might accept his love for Spike.

Part 4:

"No, there's absolutely no way."

"Buffy, I'm not making this up. I just saw them this morning. And it turns out that the apartment actually belongs to Spike."

"But Spike and Xander? A couple?" Buffy questioned. Willow just smiled as Buffy handed her the ten dollar bill.

"Actually Buffy, their feelings for each other have become quite obvious over the past two months. You'll just have to get used to it," Giles responded. He was busily stacking books on shelves.

"But Spike?"

"Well, he is fairly attractive."

"Giles!?!"

"What?" he replied.

Buffy stared at her Watcher in shock, while Giles hid a smile behind a book. Willow was giggling in her chair. Sighing in annoyance, Buffy went back to sharpening a stake. It looked like she was going to be seeing a lot more of Spike.

"Angel, I can't. I'm just not ready," Faith responded. She walked over to the couch and sat down.

Angel sighed as Cordelia shot him a dirty look and went to sit beside Faith. Over the past two months Faith had started to become more like herself, but she still refused to go anywhere near a demon fight. Angel was about to say something else, but Wesley put a hand on his shoulder.

"Leave her be, Angel. You can't rush her into this," he stated. He pressed a kiss to his distressed lover's cheek.

Angel sighed and slung an arm around Wesley. "I'm just worried about her. I want her to get better."

"I know, but she has to do it on her own." The two lovers stood together and watched Cordelia and Faith. The two girls had bonded over clothes...not something that boded particularly well for the state of his credit card.

The phone started to ring, and Gunn reached over to answer it. "Angel Investigations. Who? I think you've got the wrong number."

"Is it the cleaners again?"

"No. It's some girl askin' for Liam."

"Give me that," Angel demanded. He practically lunged at the phone. Gunn backed away with wide eyes as Angel grabbed the phone tightly. "Hello?"

"Liam?"

"Electra?"

"Can you come get me? I need you. It's starting to hurt again."

"Where are you?"

"At a pay phone on the corner of Bay Street, near an alley."

"I'll be right there," he replied. Angel hung up the phone and grabbed his coat. "Wes, I need you."

"Where are we going?"

"To help a friend," Angel responded.

Wesley grabbed his coat and followed Angel to the car. Angel broke every driving law on his way to Bay Street. When they got there, Wesley understood the hurry.

There were three unconscious men lying on the ground. They all had various injuries, but seemed to be breathing. Sitting against the wall was the person who had caused the damage. Wesley could hardly believe his eyes.

She looked to be about twenty. Her height was hard to judge while she was sitting, but she was slender. Her long, light blonde hair hung in tangles around her dirt-streaked face. The eyes that were staring blankly were violet. Those expressionless eyes unnerved Wesley.

"Angel, what's wrong with her?"

"I'm not sure," he responded. He walked over and knelt in front of her, making sure not to touch her at all. "Electra, it's me, Liam. The man with me is Wesley, my beloved. He won't hurt you. We're going to help you now."

Angel gently slid an arm around her waist and helped her to stand. Wesley rushed to her other side as she swayed. Working together, they steered her to the car. She calmly sat in the backseat and allowed them to buckle her in. Her eyes didn't change for the entire trip.

"Who's that?" Cordelia asked when the group returned, stumbling inside.

"A friend," Angel replied. He steered Electra into the room, but she froze suddenly. It seemed as though she sensed the others. Angel tried to move her again and she growled at him. Faith got up and moved in front of the blonde.

"Hi, I'm Faith. You must be dying to get that stuff out of your hair. How about we go shower?" Faith suggested. Her voice was calm and soothing, not something many people had heard from the renegade Slayer.

Electra moved away from Angel and allowed Faith to steer her towards the stairs. Once they were gone, Angel collapsed.

"Angel, who was that?" Cordelia asked. She frowned in concern as Wesley sat next to his lover and slid a comforting arm around the broad shoulders. Angel leaned into the embrace.

"Her name's Electra."

"The Electra?" Wesley asked. His voice sounded stunned. Angel nodded weakly. Wesley gently stroked his hair.

"Uh, guys? I'm gettin' the feelin' that there's a story behind this chick," Gunn remarked. Wesley rubbed Angel's back in encouragement.

"Electra was killed in 1113. She was a Slayer, and the vamps that drained her tried to kill her."

"So she's a vampire?"

"No, Slayers don't turn into vampires. She's a Daywalker."

"What's a Daywalker?" Cordelia asked. There was a look of confusion etched on her face.

Angel sighed again. "She's like a vampire in that she doesn't age and needs blood. But sunlight has no effect on her and holy objects don't harm her. She doesn't have a demon inside of her, she still has her soul. Spike and I ran into her when we were in Europe."

"So she drinks blood?"

"Yeah."

"Is she always like that?"

"Not always," Angel sighed. He leaned into Wesley's strong embrace. He was completely exhausted. Wesley stroked his hair and murmured soothing words. Angel slowly relaxed and closed his eyes.

It wasn't long before Faith and Electra came back into the room. Faith settled the Daywalker on the couch and started to brush the wet hair.

"Is everything okay?"

"Everything's fine. Electra is very happy to be clean."

"So, she's calm?"

"Yes. Just talk very calmly to her. Loud voices bother her. She seems to like it when people brush her hair," Faith explained. Electra did seem to be relaxing. The close presence of Fath seemed to be helping her.

Gunn stared at her. "Well, she sure is hot," he muttered.

Angel managed to give him a half-hearted glare, but Gunn just grinned at him. Looking around, Angel was glad that they were in a hotel. The old office wouldn't have room for everyone.

"Hey Angel, why does she call you Liam?" Cordelia asked. The others looked at Angel with curiosity in their eyes.

"It's my name. She calls everybody by their first name."

"Oh."

"Yeah. Well, Faith, do you think you can get Electra settled in one of the rooms?"

"Of course. Come on Electra, it's time for bed," Faith announced. She led the catatonic blonde to one of the rooms upstairs. Angel watched them go with a sigh. He was starting to brood when he felt a kiss on the top of his head. Smiling, Angel tilted his head and captured his lover's lips in a soft kiss. He had Wesley; everything would be fine.
