Style: Doesn’t seem to stabilize. The boys are doing their best to be a cool boy-band, but sometimes have the tries failed. (Chris dreads and beard) The rest of the guys looks a bit like the “typical American boy”, just out of a American college. The good-looks: Well, Justin is sure cute and is the chosen favourite. But maybe are their competitors a bit more good-looking…they have 5 hunks who can all be called gorgeous.
Song-writers: Just like the most bands in the boy-band category, N’sync uses different song-writers, but they try to write at least a little of the material themselves. But the hits are coming from another pencil though, and on the latest album they followed Backstreet Boys footsteps and got some help from a certain Cheiron-studio and Max Martin. The result was given…
Hits: Tearin’ up my heart, I want you back, Bye, bye, bye- three big hits in Sweden so far. And there are more to come, we guess…
Popularity: In USA- Huuuuuuge!
Sweden-friendly: Well, not very good! The guys haven’t had a real concert yet here in old, good Svedala. Remaining visits haven’t exactly been often. Not even a show-case have the fellows had…That could maybe be because they haven’t “taken” Sweden yet, but instead have they had enormous success at home in the States. It’s insecure if N’sync will come to Sweden as fore-band for Britney Spears, but the chance is big.
Talent: Justin sings the most, and if you are a bit mean you can wonder if there is a reason for that…doesn’t the other boys voices reach the level?
Dance-ability: Good! Many people think that this is the groups strongest card and that they are better than Backstreet Boys on this.
Scandals: There is this romance between Justin and Britney Spears…hot pix of them are circulating in the media and the rumours are falling down more often than the Swedish summer-rain. They are denying this and tell the press that their relationship is special but just friendly…
Religion-factor: Hiiiiiiigh! What would a boy-band without a strong faith that they more than like to tell the world…
Girlfriend: Oh yeah, they exist and they have never been a secret really. At this moment are three boys busy: Chris, JC and Joey.
Sweet ballads: No ballad-hit in Sweden yet!
Loyal fans: LOTS! As we said, in USA N’sync rules, but Backstreet Boys are close. But in Sweden it’s the contrary- here is Backstreet the kings among boy-bands!
Backstreet Boys: Brian, Kevin, Nick, Howie and AJ.
Age: All members are between Nick’s 20 and Kevin’s 28.
Style: Five different, well distinguish types are there in the group. As many boy-bands Backstreet Boys had a slow style-start but with some help from talented stylists, the Boys seem to have found their own, personal style. AJ is the guy who draw attention to himself with his different hair-colours, the wacky glasses and the crazy hats. But Kevin’s performance in a skirt on VH1 Men Strike Back was pretty interesting…
The good-looks: Very good! From Nick Carter ( a favourite who never seem to lose his grip) to the dangerous AJ to the romantic Brian…well, y’know.
Song-writers: Many different. They have themselves managed to come up with some ok songs, but the biggest hits come from experienced, professional song-writers (like all directdelivered from world-famous Swedish Max Martin and the Cheiron-studio)
Hits: Well, where to begin? Almost an endless list…
Popularity: In Sweden and in the rest of Europe: enormous! It took some time to conquer USA, but why give up? Backstreet Boys didn’t give up and N’sync have to look out home in the States…
Sweden-friendly: Are you kidding? Sweden is practically their second home! The Boys can probably order “det vanliga” (the usual) on practically all Swedish McDonalds restaurants! Well, almost…
Talent: There are three main-singers in the group: Nick, Brian and AJ. Howie and Kevin are ok, but seriously...shouldn’t it be more than ok on their level?
Dance-ability: The Boys are great! Better than N’sync? Well…
Scandals: On the girlfriend-question, the answer was a looong time: no. But from one day to another, it has all changed, suddenly had half of them girlfriends, and Kevin had been together with his for seven years..(?) This turnaround shows pretty clearly that the Boys were told from a higher power to keep the truth away from their young, female fans. Not until the Boys changed their management, the truth came. Just recently Kevin married Kristin in a private, secret ceremony.
Religion-factor: Hiiiiiiiiigh!
Girlfriends: Yep. They come and go, but all the boys have it, there’s nothing to hide anymore.
Sweet ballads: Uhhhhh..yes! I want it that way, show me the meaning, I’ll never break your heart, As long as you love me, All I have to give…
Loyal fans: Uhhhhh yes! “Loyal” is just the beginning…
And which group is the ultimate boy-band?
The Backstreet Boys! The Backstreet Boys win the battle of the boy-bands! After we had gone through all the categories, we could tell that N’sync are far from the Backstreet Boys’s fine boy-band manner. Backstreet Boys are still the greatest in Sweden, but they should keep an eye on N’sync…they want to get exactly where the Boys are heading…
