Backstreet Boys fans fooled

Backstreet Boys fans worldwide were in rapture - had a new song from the fabulous five been discovered on the Internet, fresh from their recent recording session in Sweden?
Music download website Napster.com are offering Girl, You Know It's True for download, apparently by the Backstreet Boys, but the boy band's older fans (those born before the late '80s) should recognise the track as the debut hit for lip-syncing duo Milli Vanilli.
Popular BSB website Backstreet.net was forced to release a statement earlier this week, reassuring fans the download is a fake. The statement read, 'Please note that the song Girl, You Know It's True, currently making the rounds at Napster, is an old Milli Vanilli song and not the new single.'
This is not the first time people have been fooled by sneaky Napster users - a parody of Eminem's The Real Slim Shady was said to be performed by Christina Aguilera, a claim supported by Radio 1 DJ, Jo Whiley, until worldpop revealed the rapper in question to be Las Vegas musician Emily Ellis.
Interestingly enough Shane Lynch and Keith Duffy from Boyzone had mentioned earlier this year that they are recording the aforementioned Milli Vanilli track as a duet for release later this year although our spies assure us it's not the Irish pair you can currently hear on Napster!
New material from the Backstreet Boys is expected in October ... if Napster doesn't get to it first.
