Howie D organises festival

Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough has organised a fundraising festival to raise money for the skin disease lupus, which killed his sister Caroline back in 1998.

Howie has recruited fellow BSBs Nick Carter and AJ McLean to perform at the event which takes place on 1 June at the Hard Rock Live at Universal Studios' City Walk in Orlando, Florida. Other artists performing at the show include Mark Anthony, Jon Secada, Deborah Gibson and legendary songwriter Carole King. The show is very much a family affair and will also feature appearances by Nick Carter's brother Aaron, Howie D's sister Pollyanna and his niece, Chelsea Herring.

The following day, 2 June, guests will be treated to a dinner, a silent auction, a private show with Shamu the killer whale and a private concert with Howie D and his band at the nearby Sea World. The auction will include items donated by pop stars, celebrities and athletes.

Howie Dorough formed the Dorough Lupus Foundation shortly after his sister died of the disease. The non-profit organisation raises money for lupus research, education and financial assistance for those living with lupus who cannot afford treatment.

Tickets for the 1 June concert are $175 while those for the 2 June auction and dinner are $150. Combined tickets for both events are $300 and can be bought online via Ticketmaster.

Backstreet Boys new single More Than This is released next month.
