Backstreet Boys Scoop: Exclusive Interview - The Black & Blue Story
Source: SFX.com
So now that millions of fans own their new album, Black & Blue, we were wondering what the Backstreet Boys think of their creationand why the heck they called it Black & Blue. We were so curious, in fact, that we asked themand heres what they said:
We were doing a photo shoot in L.A., Brian explained, in an exclusive interview with SFX, And we were all dressed in all black with a blue background. I just jokingly looked across the board and said (in a goofy voice) Guys, why dont we call it black and blue? And it just stuck because we were racking our brains trying to figure out the perfect title that we could all five agree onso Black & Blue it is, and the cover turned out the way it did because we didnt feel that it was really necessary to put our picture on the cover. We wanted to differentiate ourselves a little bitand we also had some inspiration from the Beatles when they did the white album.
And Metallica had the black album, A.J. interjected.
Right, continued Brian, And, in 1975 the Stones came out with Black & Blue and I didnt even know that until our PR person (told us), but that happened to be the year I was born.
I think the album will definitely speak for itself, Howie added. I think it definitely shows our growth as individuals as well as a family and as artists and as a whole. I think it shows a little bit more maturityWere all getting older, theres no denying it!
Were Backstreet Grandpas, laughed Nick.
I think (Black & Blue) is just a natural evolution.a progression, Howie continued. Its good quality music that everyone can enjoy. Its a Backstreet thing! And we want to thank our fans. We were a little nervous, because weve been gone for a while and we want to thank them for their incredible support.
