BSB erased from Lionel Richie single

A song recorded by pop music's biggest boy band the Backstreet Boys and one of soul music's most respected legends Lionel Richie may never see the light of day. The part that BSB recorded has been dropped by their record company, Jive, as they fear that the track may compete with a future BSB single.
Before commenting on the news, Richie reflected on the collaboration's original premise. 'I suggested, 'You put it on your album and I'll put it on my album, and we got it,'' he says. 'I think the single is so strong with them on it, just amazing,' he added. 'We custom-tailored it for the Backstreet Boys. But everyone felt it would be suicide for their record.'
However, Richie does hope that the single will one day reach the public. 'I said, 'OK, we'll use it for later on, when I do a TV special or something,'' he states. 'I'm not worried; I think as time goes on, you will hear this record, with Backstreet on it, before it's all over. It's just a matter of how we politically work it out. But the good news that happened from that record is my six-year-old son came to me and said, 'Dad, you're famous.''
The song, Cinderella, was originally recorded last year when Richie was on tour with Tina Turner and will most likely feature on Richie's next LP, Renaissance, due in stores on 20 March in the US.
BSB's most recent LP, Black & Blue, sold a massive 1.5 million copies in a single week in the US and over three million worldwide, following a highly publicised and unprecedented global promotional campaign last year.
In related news, BSB's moody member AJ McLean who recently celebrated his 23rd birthday on 9 January has vowed to wed. However, he adds, it won't be anytime soon. Although he says that he's in no hurry to wed and follow the example of fellow band members Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson, he claims that he'll tie the knot before his 30th birthday. 'I am planning on getting married before I'm 30. I definitely want to slow down and settle down with somebody,' he says. 'But, at this point in my life my career's my first love because I know that this could be gone tomorrow. I've got to live for it now.'
Who said imitation was the sincerest form of flattery? According to a recent report in US Weekly, BSB's Howie D. and AJ McLean followed up a recent karaoke bar performance of Brickhouse with an encore of 'N Sync's Bye Bye Bye. Witnesses reported that the boys tore the roof off with a funky karaoke rendition of the song complete with a spoof version of 'N Sync's precision dance moves.
