Teen Scene Mag Exclusive Article on Krystal Harris

Sitting in a crowded cafe on Sunset Boulevard, 19 year old Krystal Harris reflects on her good fortune and the most famous Boys in the world.

"It's like I keep waiting for something bad to happen you know? I mean, I am so blessed." How blessed and lucky can one girl get?

Try being hand-picked by Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys to be the very first artist on The BSB's brand new record label and then being told you'll be touring the world with them. Today this talented musician is 3 days away from the biggest opportunity of her lifetime.

On January 22 she will step on stage at Fort Lauderdale's National Car Rental Center to open for the Backstreet Boys on their brand new "Black and Blue" World tour. "Kevin is like my mentor. He is the one who made sure I had the opportunity to open the entire world tour for them. The Boys have really taken me under their wing." So much so, that not a song lyric, nor a publicity photo or any detail regarding her career will be released without Kevin's approval.

Through a friend of a friend, a tape of Krystal singing ended up at the hands of Johnathan "Mook" Morant (a producer who has worked with the Boys from early on in their career) who then passed it on to Kevin. Recognizing her immense talent immediately, Kevin brought up the fact that the Boys are forming their own record label...and that's how this 19 year old from Anderson, Indiana ended up as one of the luckiest new artists on this planet. "I'm not really nervous", she says, "I just get more focused as the tour approaches."

People eat their lunches and sip their lattes unaware that this petite girl with short black hair just might be the biggest thing to hit the music scene in a long while. Having never been outside of the United States before she ponders what she would like to get out of this world tour. "It's all about the people to me", she says softly, "If this was all that it ends up to be, just this one world tour, and I get to see the people, then that would be enough for me." Her first single "Supergirl" will hit the airwaves shortly and debut album "Me&My Piano" this spring. "I have been very lucky as the Boys really support me and want to nurture me as an artist. Yet they are like family to me. AJ calls and drops in to see me all the time. And one of the first things that Nick said to me was they really wanted me to be a part of their "crew". And I was like alright! That is just so cool!"

Cool indeed. So, for now, Krystal sips her Italian Soda unrecognized in the Southern California sun, but that is all about to change - soon. And it couldn't all be happening to a nicer or more talented girl.
