BSB obsessive Caitlin runs www.backstreet.net officially judged the best Backstreet Boys fan site on the web. worldpop caught up with Caitlin to find out why she reckons the BSBs are the best group on the planet and what it feels like to meet them .
worldpop: What made you decide to set up backstreet.net?
Caitlin: I've been a fan of the BSBs since the beginning. Me and my friend first heard about them when we saw their video Get Down on TV and we pretty much loved them from then on. About three and a half years ago some friends and I decided that we'd like to have a website on the Backstreet Boys so we started writing things down that we'd like on it and doing quizzes and things like that. Then it just got ... big!
worldpop: Backstreet.net was picked as the best Backstreet Boys fan site, winning you the chance to interview the boys.
Caitlin: Yeah that was interesting! I didn't exactly interview them, I hosted a fan conference and people called in to ask them questions and I introduced the people and got to sit with the boys. It was pretty cool. I don't how I imagined them to be, I mean it's not like I really know them or anything, but they were really nice. Nick's my favourite.
worldpop: Is there anything you'd love to ask them?
Caitlin: I did ask them before if Nick wanted to challenge my brother to a game of Nintendo and I think if he could do that that would be really cool. I don't know who'd win, my brother's pretty good!
worldpop: The site's pretty comprehensive, do you have any free time?
Caitlin: Not much! Lately because of school I haven't been spending all that much time on it but my parents help out. My mum says they're obsessed! They're Backstreet fans too. They even came with me a couple of times to see them.
worldpop: What do you think of the girlfriend-hating fans on the backstreet.net message boards?
Caitlin: I don't really like that because you can't expect the Backstreet Boys not to do stuff that normal people would do. Just because they're famous it doesn't mean that they can't actually have a life. I wasn't that sad when Brain and Kevin got married but then again it wasn't my favourite getting married! A couple of my friends were really sad.
worldpop: Which BSB do you think will have the first successful solo career?
Caitlin: I think AJ will do pretty well because he's already done the Johnny No Name thing. I haven't seen any of his gigs but I'm sure they're good.
worldpop: What do you think of 'N Sync?
Caitlin: Personally I don't like them. They're just not the Backstreet Boys. They're trying to be the Backstreet Boys and they're not doing a very good job. They're copycats.
worldpop: So are the BSB going to win back their sales record?
Caitlin: I hope so. I'm really excited about the new album..
