On Wednesday night and accompanied with his parents, Howie D. performed under a din of fans at the Anfiteatro Tito Puente at the Luis Muñoz Marín Park.
At 8:30 p.m., and without losing one more minute, the opening act was in charge of Pollyanna. This young singer, also Howies’ sister, made her debut as a solo artist. Her musical offer included songs like "Take me away", "I will love you forever" and "Andale mi corazón", among other songs in spanglish that she wrote.
The artist, although she was a little hoarse, was accepted by the public. Of course she mentioned her brother’s name all the time and the audience was shouting. Probably it was a strategy to keep them entertained.
When she finished her act, she was the one who introduced Howie. He started the most expected part of the night with a big shout of "Buenas noches, Puerto Rico" (Good evening, Puerto Rico). As he has stated before in his interview with El Nuevo Día, the 26 years old young man performed covers.
He started with Santanas’ Supernatural and Marc Anthony’s I Need to Know. Between songs, he would talk to the audience with great enthusiasm. The girls, especially, would go crazy every time Howie said things like "tengo calor" (I’m hot) or "uds. son muy especiales" (you’re very special).
While he was performing, Howie said that he was working on his Spanish. That is to say, he would speak in both languages because he can’t speak Spanish very well. The fans didn’t care, since there were many of them from abroad.
Then he sang Enrique Iglesias "Bailamos", "I Like It Like That" and a Jon Secada meadley. He included songs like "Un día más sin verte", "Sentir" and "All I really want is you". Shouting he said that Secada is one of the most important influences in his career. And he completely stirred up the audience when he said: "Yo tengo sangre boricua" (I have portorrican blood).
As he is used to do with the Backstreet Boys, Howie dried his sweat with a towel and then he threw it to the audience. He also moved very sexy to catch his fans’ attention. And, as a curious fact, he threw red roses to the public, what provoked hysteria among his fans.
To give the show a caribbean flavor, he sang songs like "María, María" and "Isla Bonita" from Santana and Madonna respectively. In the meantime, he invited Pollyanna to the stage and they performed together a song dedicated to their late sister Caroline.
Although the place was not filled up to capacity, the Backstreet Boys’ fans applauded and shouted all the time. Howie finished his show with "María" and "The cup of life" from Ricky Martin.
Then he wasn’t able to leave because the audience wanted another one and he went back to the stage and sang one more time. But this time, he sang totally in English.
Once he concluded his performance, the young man said goodbye and thanked everyone for their presence. After the concert that will benefit the fight against Lupus in the island, Howie and his sister Pollyanna will go to Buenos Aires, Argentina, to present this show.

BAJO UNA gritería de fanáticas, junto a sus padres, se llevó a cabo el miércoles en la noche el concierto de Howie D en vivo, en el Anfiteatro Tito Puente del Parque Luis Muñoz Marín.
A las 8:30 p.m., y sin perder ni un minuto más, la apertura estuvo a cargo de Pollyanna. Esta joven cantante, hermana de Howie, hizo su debut como solista. Su oferta musical incluyó temas como Take me Away, I Will Love You Forever y Andale mi corazón, entre otras melodías en "spanglish" de su autoría.
La artista, aunque un poco ronca, fue aceptada por el público. Claro, que en todo momento mencionaba el nombre de su hermano y la audiencia gritaba. Probablemente, fue una estrategia para mantenerlos entretenidos.
Al momento de concluir su participación, ella misma presentó a Howie. Este, con un gran grito de "Buenas noches, Puerto Rico", inició la parte más esperada de la noche. Como ya había expresado en entrevista con El Nuevo Día, el joven de 26 años interpretó "covers".
Inició su oferta musical con Supernatural de Santana y I Need to Know de Marc Anthony. Entre canción y canción, el artista se dirigía al público con gran entusiasmo. Las chicas, en especial, enloquecían cada vez que Howie decía frases como "tengo calor" y "ustedes son muy especiales".
Durante su participación, Howie les dijo a todos que estaba trabajando en su español. Es decir, que hablaría en ambos idiomas porque no habla muy bien el nuestro. A la fanaticada no le importó, ya que también entre ellos había muchas personas del extranjero.
La música siguió un poco más movida con Bailamos de Enrique Iglesias, I Like It Like That y un "medly" de la música más trascendental de Jon Secada. Ahí incluyó melodías como Un día más sin verte, Sentir y All I Really Want Is You. A gritos expresó que Secada es una de las influencias más importantes en su carrera artística. Y encendió por completo a la audiencia en el momento que dijo: "Yo tengo sangre boricua".
Como está acostumbrado a hacer con los Backstreet Boys, Howie se secó el sudor con una toalla y la lanzó al público. También se movía bien sexy para llamar la atención de todas sus fanáticas. Y, como dato curioso, lanzó al público rosas rojas, lo que provocó histeria entre sus seguidoras.
Para añadirle sazón caribeño al espectáculo, siguió con temas como María, María e Isla bonita, ambas popularizadas por Carlos Santana y Madonna respectivamente. Entre tanto, invitó a Pollyanna al escenario e interpretaron juntos una canción dedicada a su hermana fallecida, Caroline.
A pesar de que el lugar no estaba lleno a capacidad, los seguidores del integrante de los Backstreet Boys aplaudieron y gritaron en todo momento. Howie concluyó su presentación con María y La copa de la vida, interpretadas por nuestro Ricky Martin.
Entonces no podía partir, porque al escuchar el tradicional "otra, otra, otra" del público, entró al proscenio y cantó una vez más. Pero, esta vez, totalmente en inglés.
Una vez concluida su presentación, el joven se despidió de todos y les agradeció inmensamente su presencia. Luego del concierto a beneficio de Lupus en la Isla del Encanto, Howie y su hermana Pollyanna viajarán a Buenos Aires, Argentina, para repetir este espectáculo.
