In memory of his sister who died two years ago because of Lupus, Backstreet Boy Howie D. will perform tonight at the Anfiteatro del Parque Luis Muñoz Marín.
"This concert is a family job. It’s not to get economic benefit but to fight against Lupus", Howie said.
Everything collected in the island through the concert will go to the Caroline Dorough-Cochran Lupus Foundation. According to Pollyanna, who is also his sister, the intention of the Foundation is divided in several categories. First, study the illness and try to get a cure, and at the same time educate the public. Also to give economical help to those who suffer the illness.
The event will have Pollyanna performing at the opening . This young singer will perform songs written by her.
Howie, on the other hand, as he told to El Nuevo Día will perform covers. These are songs from other artists and a few ones from the BSB. More precisely, he will perform songs from Latin artists like Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias, Santana and Marc Anthony.
¿Why latins? Well, for those of you who didn’t know, the young singer has 'boriqua' roots thanks to his mother. Besides, his maternal family lives in the town of Fajardo. Howie will also count with dancers. But mostly, the show will be based on his performance.
He doesn’t discharge the idea of being a solo artist. Tonight’s concert will be the second perfrormance of Howie D. as a solo artist. Although he will be singing covers, the young man didn’t discharge that in the future he will leave the group (Backstreet Boys) He also said that this effort for the Lupus foundation is the result of many people’s work.
El Nuevo Día asked why his bandmates were not helping him with this idea. Howie said that "Each one of us can do whatever we want in our spare time and as long as it doesn’t interfere with the group activities. That’s why everyone has something to do right now and according to their own expectations."
Meanwhile, the interest for his solo carreer has something to do with Pollyanna, who wants both of them to do a duet. According to this the young man, showed doubtful about it, but it was her the one who stated "I’ll try to convince him".

For all the BSB fans, the new single will be out by the end of October - Until then there’s no clue about the name of the single or the album. Howie explained that they have finished the recordings including the production and now they are in the process of remixing and editing them.
