Britney's Club Hopping In NY On
Friday
First
of all...I would like to say that I love love love your site.
I visit it everyday...yeah I'm addicted!
Let me tell
you about my experience Friday night.
My boyfriend
had called me up in the afternoon and told me that we were
going to go to a place called Show...it's a club in New
York...and to be ready by 10:30. I knew something weird was
going on because we never go out that early...and we never go
out to a club together when it's just the two of us. Usually
we go out with a group of people. Anyway, we arrived at the
club later on that night and there was a HUGE line in front of
the place. I looked at my boyfriend and he seemed really
upset. When I asked him what was wrong he replied that he had
a secret to tell me. The secret was that Britney Spears
was doing a surprise performance at this club tonight!!!! I
could hardly control my excitement. I was finally going to see
Ms. Spears up close!!
It was
raining and I was freezing my butt off so I decided to go up
to the bouncer to see if I would have any luck getting in
right away. He told me to just wait one moment and he
would let me skip the line. Two minutes later, soaking
wet, he told me to go ahead and go in. I told him I had my
boyfriend with me and that he was going to be coming in with
me too. He refused saying that he was only letting girls
in at the moment. I was soo disappointed and upset, but there
was NO way that I would just ditch my boyfriend. My
boyfriend then told me that she was performing in two other
clubs that night...one of them he couldn't remember the name.. .and
the other was Avalon.
We
jumped in a cab and headed over to Avalon. The line was really
long too but it moved pretty quickly. When we finally
got inside we looked around for a place with a stage figuring
that that would be the place she would perform. We found
it in the main dance floor...and since it was a surprise
performance, no one knew what was going on there that night so
I parked myself by the front of the stage and didn't move from
there for about three hours. Finally, people came out on
the stage and started dancing. It wasn't her dancers...but
they were dancers for the club I'm assuming. About an hour
later, Britney was standing above the stage on a platform with
a bunch of people taking pictures of her and filming her. I
started to tear a little because I couldn't believe what was
going on...that I was in the same place as my idol!
A few minutes
later she came onto the stage with her dancers. I was
standing on the floor at the corner of the stage and her
bodyguard was right above me on the same side I was standing,
so at times I couldn't see past his HUGE body. Also, he
jumped into the crowd a few times to deal with some people
that were acting up. He even accidentally kicked me as
he was jumping down from the stage. Let me tell you how
much pain I was in! But it was comforting to see that he
was so protective of Britney and that she is in good hands.
She came out
with a red paten-leather top and black paten-leather pants
with high heal boots over the pants. She was wearing so much
makeup but she looked beautiful anyway. She
also lip-synched all of her songs which I was really
disappointed about, but I was also so happy that she was only
like five feet away from me. I was sooo excited. She
"sang" Slave, Boys, Me Against The Music..and a few
other songs. For Slave, she took off her red top and had
on a sparkly shirt that looked like a bra. Then for Me
Against the Music she wore a nude color shirt that had designs
that looked like tattoos. It was so cool. I had such a great
time and I will never forget it. If I would have known
about it sooner I would have taken a camera with me. Luckily
though, this will air on MTV in November...I cannot wait!!!!
I'm not sure if u knew, britney's going around NYC doing
little promotional performances at clubs in nyc, last night it
was rumored that britney would be at this club splash, so me
and a friend went to check it out, the line was to the middle
of the block and the place was jam packed, at about 2am
britney came in camera's following her and ran up on
stage to perform the mix she did at the NFL Game show.. Boy's,
I'm a Slave 4 U with the "girl i like that ass on
fire" and then into Me against the Music, it was amazing
to finally see her up close like that, as soon as she finished
perfoming she singed an autograph and zoomed out of the club
to go to some other ones to perform. as we went outside to get
some air there was a bunch of camera crew's asking what did u
think of the performance for a new M TV
special. i got interviewed and said, ill see her next album
when i dance for her. :-p, her black jeep was surronded by
fans, it was a great night.
And This
Song Is My Sorry....
Well,
Britney is definately marking her territory once again as
she leaps back into the 'dying' music industry with her
4th album era. No, Madonna did not make an appearance on
Saturday Night Live as rumored, but why would she have
needed to right? In fact, I personally think that the
synergy of 'Me Against The Music' will boost Madonna's and
Britney's careers equally (they don't need
each other's
help really, so
they cancel out).
Tonight
Britney performed two songs, 'Me Against The Music', which was
lipsynched, but with that dance number, I don't blame her!
Nick Florez is back as a dancer for Britney, and you will see
him in the new music video as well. Everybody was waiting for
'Everytime', and well, gahh....I'm on the west coast so I
didn't get to watch it until 3 hours after most people, since
I refused to get the mp3 before I saw it first on TV as a
performance in all its splendor.
Britney was
totally feeling the song, at times, it felt as if she was
going to shed a tear, you could really see the connection
between her and the song. We didn't really get to hear
anything new in regards to her vocal range in 'Everytime', but
who knows what the album will bring.
Also, during
SNL...they showed a promo commercial for 'In The Zone', just
basically saying it would contain 12 brand new songs and that
it was going to be out November 18th.
The reason,
by the way, why Britney's record label waited SOOO long and
released the album in the 4th quarter, is because you'll never
see a superstar release an album in any of the other quarters.
The
first quarter is reserved for left over mediocre artists,
while the second and third quarters are reserved for new
artists. Britney's 4th album will also be released with
something the industry calls 'co-op ad space' which is
basically a system that makes record become more wanted. The
process is really simple, go into Tower Records and right
before the counter, you'll see a stand that has the picture of
the artist and it's filled with their CD and their CD only.
This raises the sales of the CD's. Britney's 4th album will
also be Jive's last major artist release until next year, as
it is being released right before thanksgiving and usually,
between thanksgiving and January, there's a calm period in the
music industry. So after an entire year of extreme hard work,
Britney and her label will just sit back, relax, and enjoy the
amazing sales this album will have....UNLESS....anybody
downloads it online...don't !...seriously, don't. Make sure
you go out and buy it !!
So.....wow....Everytime
huh....what'd you think? I thought it was great, although I
would really have enjoyed a little bit more variation in the
song....the only part I would change is the part where she
goes 'I guess I need you baby', it just I don't know, it
didn't right do it for the beauty of the song. Otherwise, the
song was really good, the lyrics are BEAUTIFUL and I don't
know, it might make a good second single, cause you know,
that's how they've usually done it....but we'll see !
Here are the
caps from the performance, which included a piano, violins and
a harp. It was great...Britney looked stunning. All the girls
who cried when watching say I ! haha jk :)
By the way, I
think Big Rob is coming back.....I heard that he was there
today...or maybe he was just visiting..hmm...I don't know,
hopefully he's back :D. w000tish.
I know fans are gonna be listening to this song as if they
would just have bought a new car. When it's brand new, you
wanna drive it all the time.....except when you go to
sleep.....and then little by little, you start getting used to
it...still loving it
though :) Enjoy this update !
MTV Movie Awards
2003
With just a few minutes of lip locking, hip wiggling and
thigh stroking, Madonna, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera
set the bar sky high for all of the performers at this year's
MTV Video Music Awards.
Anyone who's ever questioned
Britney or Madonna's acting abilities should reconsider. Not
only did the ladies show off some blood-pressure-raising
moves, their kisses were nothing like the infamous mouth mush
between Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley and far more
like something from late-night Cinemax.
Their opening
number began with Spears emerging from an enormous white cake
in a wedding dress and veil. After Britney sang several verses
from "Like a Virgin," Aguilera came out and picked up the
vocals for what was the pair's first performance together
since the Mickey Mouse Club. But this was no kid's stuff.
Within moments they were writhing on the ground with their
legs spread.
Then Madonna descended from the cake,
dressed in black and singing "Hollywood" Dancing provocatively
with her two protégés, she planted a sexy smooch on Britney's
mouth, then turned and delivered one to Christina. It was such
a performance-defining moment, it's easy to forget that Missy
Elliott came out and sang the chorus from "Work It" before it
was all over.

Britney Oops! The Ante
By GERRI
HIRSHEY of The New York Times
In 1998, Britney Spears -- in thigh-high stockings
that stretched vainly toward a wee pleated skirt -- twist-tied
her schoolgirl blouse up over her sports bra and sang ''. . .
Baby One More Time'' on MTV, the sun had truly set on the
Decade of the Diva (Madonna, Mariah, Whitney et al.). Since
then, the cradle has been rockin'. The tabloids christened the
young ones ''pop tarts'' after those beloved, additive-rich
sweet nothings one slides furtively into the toaster whilst
the righteous choke down spelt muffins. In fact, Pop-Tarts,
which turn a venerable 40 next year, are among America's most
entrenched guilty pleasures: in 2001, the number of Tarts sold
(2 billion) would have reached halfway to the moon. Psssst: 40
percent were consumed by adults. Metaphorically, our Top 40
tarts are consistent with the pastry originals: they're better
when they're a little flaky, their visuals are candy-colored,
the lite lyrics melt in your mouth. The music's
market-researched beat has all the torque and spring of a
four-slice Toastmaster. And what tasty fun, assigning an
imagined flavor to each of today's ruling Billboard
princesses.
Shakira? Cafe con leche.
Christina
Aguilera? Devil's-food cake. No -- make that Manwich.
Avril Lavigne? Wheat grass.
Britney Spears?
Cherry vanilla. Which is to say sweet, with a decided tang.
This is how Britney Spears comes across on one sunny spring
day at Battery Studios, a Manhattan recording space. Taking a
break from work on her fourth album, to be released in the
fall, she is friendly and polite -- and prone to using a
smattering of naughty words, hereafter replaced by (oops!).
The orange T-shirt is tight, the jeans cut low, the
white-and-blue cowboy boots battered by loving overuse. She
pulls one off to show how it flops. ''People say to me, 'Brit,
you need to get some new (oops!) boots!'''
I had been
warned of a sea change in this formerly G-rated Mouseketeer by
my 11-year-old daughter, once a huge Britney fan, though ''way
back in the third grade.'' She cited Spears's 2001 MTV Video
Music Awards telecast outfit -- not much bigger than Eve's
(the biblical one), and accessorized with a writhing live
snake. She asked me, with a tinge of pity: ''Mom, didn't you
know? Britney's gone bad!''
Maybe so, but it must be
-- as the Shangri-Las once sang of a hot boyfriend with dirty
fingernails -- ''good-bad, but not evil.'' At 21, having sold
52 million albums and, on her last tour, more than $40 million
worth of tickets, Britney Spears is justifiably feeling her
oats. She was only 2 in 1983 when MTV's iconic First Tart,
Cyndi Lauper, tossed down the marabou'ed gauntlet with ''Girls
Just Want to Have Fun.'' Surely, the notion of fun itself has
changed since Lauper's harmless video pajama party -- just
check out the girls gone wild on MTV's spring-break
extravaganzas.
Spears is still decidedly upright by
such standards. And since she grosses an estimated $40 million
to $50 million a year, she has learned to overcome any guilt
about the indulgences she grants herself. But it took a while
for this child of a contractor and a second-grade teacher from
tiny Kentwood, La., to adjust. ''When I first started and I
wanted to buy a dress, if it was over $50, I would wait two
weeks before I would make the decision to go back.
Seriously.''
Now, she says, ''I give myself lots of
treats.'' We'll just run through her guilty girl pleasures,
teen-magazine style.
Foods: ''Cookie-dough ice cream.
Hot dogs with cheese, mayo, mustard, pickles.'' And because
she's a Southern girl: ''Chicken and dumplings.'' Films:
''Sappy movies. Girl stuff like 'French Kiss' and 'Notting
Hill,' 'Steel Magnolias,' 'Beaches.' I travel alone a lot, and
I don't like scary.'' Music: ''Everything. Old 80's stuff. Old
Aerosmith stuff. Robin Thicke is really cool. I loved the
Neptunes for a while, but I'm over their stuff now.''
Miscellany: ''Dressing my dog'' (a reference to Mickey, a
Pomeranian). ''There's a shop in L.A. with these really cute
cashmere sweaters.''
Though she may not like spooky
movies, she is not afraid to look deep, deep into her own
wardrobe trunks and scare herself half to death. She cannot
bull-leeve she wore some outfits in public. But will she tamp
down the vamp? ''Nah.'' And to all the red-carpet arbiters she
offers a resolute je ne regrette rien. Mam'selle explains: ''I
was thinking the other day about an outfit I wore to the
Billboard Awards, like three years ago. It was orange hot
pants and fish-net stockings and this orange bra and this
orange (oops!) hat, and it was all tie-dyed too. It was
obnoxious! I got so much bad press for it.'' She laughs,
rattling the collection of silver chains and charms around a
well-tanned throat (''laying out,'' or tanning, is another
no-no she enjoys). ''I look at that outfit right now,'' she
continues, ''and if I was to put it on now, I'd think: What
the (oops!) am I wearing? But at that moment, I was feeling
very feisty and very orange and very out there. And very like,
I believe! And it worked.''
For a young woman with an
11th-grade education but an M.F.A. in media madness, Spears is
circumspect about all the scrutiny and those ghastly
anti-Britney Web sites. ''People around me are like, 'Did you
hear what they wrote?' I'm like, 'Yeah.' Honestly, the biggest
thing about celebrity is that you call out for judgment. You
just put yourself out there. Not everybody's going to like
what you wear.'' She laughs and adds that visuals are ''the
funnest part'' of her job. And since she's been working, hard,
since about the second grade, she has a lot of fun to catch up
on. Later tonight, she turns up at a Chelsea club called Lot
61, and before she can blink her pretty eyes, both city
tabloids will report her drinking (''downing Malibu Sea
Breezes,'' according to one) and dancing on banquettes.
Responding to complaints from an allegedly displaced patron,
Spears's publicist will harrumph: ''Britney would never enter
a club without knowing her table is ready.''
What can
we conclude except that these days, there is always a darned
warning label on the most innocuous of pleasures? Even
Kellogg's has moved to indemnify its Tarts in the wake of an
infamous Internet ''flaming toaster'' experiment, cautioning,
''Due to possible risk of fire, never leave your toasting
appliance or microwave unattended.''
Which is to say,
overheat any pop tart, and you're playing with fire.

Britney's Spiritual
Journey
Pop princess BRITNEY SPEARS was overcome by the spiritual
presence of native American Indians during a recent drive with
a pal.
The OOPS!...I DID IT AGAIN singer was holidaying
at a plush spa in Arizona last week (ends08AUG03) when she and
her female friend decided to take in the
scenery.
Britney's mum LYNNE explains, "One afternoon,
she and her friend JENNY took a ride through the countryside
in a convertible. They just put the top down and drove until
sundown.
"They called me from a coffee shop telling me
about the spiritual feelings they had experienced while taking
in the scenery.
"I'm not surprised, considering all the
mysticism that has been passed down mysticism that has been
passed down through native American legends in that area."
Career Spears
Britney Spears and her publicity machine are in overdrive,
working to keep her name in the headlines -- from now until
the end of her career. Of course, that may be only a matter of
months, so last week’s prattle about a Spears-guided daytime
TV talk show may have been hot air. If it proceeds the talk
show wouldn’t begin until late next year. That’s around the
same time as Mrs. Gigli (a.k.a. J. Lo) is reportedly
considering starting one as well, if her career survives its
recent deflated state. Anyway, much like many a boss, Spears
would do a spot of work on her talk show, show her face
occasionally (but only via videotape) -- and take all the
credit, likely with her name in the title. (That idea flopped,
however, when she launched a New York eatery two years ago.)
To make the show a reality, Spears will have to have a hit
with her next album, due in the fall. An initial push for it
will come right here in D.C., for free -- at the annual
concert to kick-off football season. Set for Thursday, Sept.
4, on the Mall for broadcast that evening on ABC, Spears will
appear with other artists, including one she could certainly
learn about career longevity -- and talent -- from: Mary J.
Blige. Blige will be promoting her album, Love & Life
(Geffen), produced with Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, to be released
a week earlier.
Also weighing down on whether Spears
will banter on TV: the success of her second stab at movie
stardom. Spears will play the daughter of a NASCAR racing
driver in Trading Paint. BBC Radio 1 knows of no plans for
Spears to sing or race in the film, and couldn’t say when it
would be released, though surely sometime next year. In any
case, here’s hoping Spears has learned from her fender-bender
crash with her first film, Crossroads, or this could be a
fatal pileup.
Britney Builds Her Dream
Home
Pop babe BRITNEY SPEARS is erasing all memories of ex-love
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE by buying a new home and making it a girlie
paradise.
The BOYS singer has sold the love nest she
shared with Timberlake - who she split with last year (02) -
to fellow star BRITTANY MURPHY, and has now moved into a
trendy beachside condo in Los Angeles.
And according to
Spears' mum LYNNE, the new place is everything a girl could
dream of.
She says, "Britney has really loved
decorating it. It's so nice to live where everything is so
convenient. Pool, spa, valet service and daily maintenance are
great.
"Living near the beach is serene and the
atmosphere is very woman-friendly."
Britney Fails to Quit
Smoking
Britney Spears is desperately trying to give up cigarettes
before she launches her new album - but is failing
miserably.
The pop singer is gearing up to release her
LP later this year her first since 2001's eponymous album -
and wants to be nicotine free when the record hits the
shelves.
However, Spears' attempts to wean herself off
tobacco have been so far unsuccessful - much to her mother
LYNNE's dismay.
A pal says, "Britney's tried everything
from nicotine patches to acupuncture to try and kick it for
good, but it's no use. Her mom is always on at her back about
it."
Britney Does Bhangra
How can Britney Spears re-create herself for a new era?
Having last worked with hip hop producers, The Neptune’s on
'The Boys' and 'Slave 4 U', the Princess of Pop now plans to
hook onto the Desi beat favour with the help from UK producer,
Rishi Rich.
Having worked with Craig David, Mis-teeq
and Latin sensation "she bang, she bangs", Mr.Ricky Martin,
Rishi Rich has firmly got his feet on the ground with an
impressive portfolio to date.
It’s still not been
confirmed what direction she’s taking but will Spears have the
power to release the first ever international desi-pop single?
Or will be just another remix to add to the collection? Only
time will tell so watch this space.
Britney's Album Release Still
Unconfirmed
Britney Spears is getting closer to announcing a release
date for her fourth album, but the NFL may have prematurely
announced one for her. The NFL Web page promoting the singer's
upcoming appearance at a September 4 season kickoff concert in
Washington, D.C., noted in three places that Britney's
upcoming album would drop November 18. Those mentions have
since been removed, but Britney's official Web site, having
long gone without an update, has new information on it this
week, including a line about the album coming out in November.
Spears' label, Jive, has yet to announce or confirm an
official release date.
Busted Bicker Over Britney and
Avril
British pop punks BUSTED are divided when it comes to the
issue of women - singer CHARLIE SIMPSON loves BRITNEY SPEARS
while bandmate JAMES BOURNE prefers AVRIL
LAVIGNE.
Although the WHAT I GO TO SCHOOL FOR hitmakers
have become the new sex symbols of pop, they have differing
opinions when it comes to which celebrity stunners they would
like to date.
Charlie says, "I like Britney, without a
doubt! I love the whole revealing your body thing. I like a
girl in an open, low cut top. I like it when Britney wears a
short top because she's got such a great stomach.
"She
looks good in a short skirt, too."
James argues, "My
ideal girl is Avril Lavigne. Every time I see her she looks
amazing, and even though she says she's tomboyish, she's still
quite girlie.
"She's little and cute, which is what I
like about her."
Britney and Christina Fight
Over Simon Rex
There was a fight between Britney and Christina over Simon
Rex.
Couldn't happen, you say? Think again. The two
popsters came into a Miami Beach club as best friends -- but
Spears left an hour later after a long argument with Aguilera.
I'm told they were fighting over oh-so-pretty actor Simon
Rex.
"The music was too loud to hear them," says an
eyewitness. "But it looked pretty serious. There was a lot of
finger-pointing and flailing arms. A couple of beefy guys were
standing by in case they needed to be separated, but
fortunately, Britney left before they came to
blows."
Aguilera, 21, on tour with Justin Timberlake,
hooked up with Spears, 23(21), in Florida for work on her new
CD. At club Prive, they joined other celebrities, including
Rex, 29, the porn-star-turned-MTV-vj-turned-sitcom-actor --
and Taye Diggs and Danny Masterson.
What happened next
is unclear, except that Rex -- who co-starred in the quirky WB
sitcom What I Like About You -- is bragging that both women
are after him.
"They want me," he was overheard telling
friends. "Christina is an old friend. But Britney's not my
type. Too goody-goody!" Then he thought for a second and
deadpanned: "Maybe they can both have me at the same
time."
Says a Britney spokesman: "There is no animosity
between them over Simon
Rex!"
