PEREGRINE WATCH 2008

Peregrine Watch Weekends June 2008

This year the BOC’s Peregrine Watches throughout June provided fantastic opportunities to see the Avon Gorge Peregrines with their five chicks perfecting their aerial skills! A brood of five chicks is a large for Peregrines and a good indication of the abundance of food in the Bristol area.

One of the chicks was taken into care by the RSPCA but was fit and healthy. It was released on 19th June sporting a blue colour ring with black letters AG and a unique BTO metal ring. We can now follow the movements and life of this young male peregrine.

Many thanks to those members who helped with the watch this year and to the many others who supported us by visiting the watch site. All were rewarded with some wonderful and exciting views of Peregrine Falcons.

2007 update: We have recently found out that one of the three chicks from last year’s family which disappeared and was presumed dead, was in fact taken into care and released at another site.
