"Michael Brenisen; b 6 OCT 1746 in Lancaster/Lebanon Co. PA??; d 1810 in Somerset or Westmoreland Co. PA
He appears in the 1790 Census in Somerset Co. PA with 1 male over 16 yrs. old, 5 males under the age of 16, and 3 females.
1800 census shows him with 2 males 10-15, 2 males 16-25, and 1 male 45+; 1 female 16-25, and 1 female 45+.
Appears in the tax lists of 1780 for Lebanon Twp. (originally part of Lancaster Co., now Lebanon Co. PA); also in same list is Jacob "Breneisen". This Jacob is possibly Michael's father; there is a Jacob Brennieser who married Anna Veronica Wampler in Lebanon Twp. on 1/13/1747 (per Lebanon Co. Marriage Records of the Rev. John C. Stoever, 1731-1779), or one of his brothers. The 1750 tax list for Lebanon Township includes Christian and Jacob "Brenizer"; only Jacob appears in the 1759 tax list.
For the year 1783-84, Michael appears as a taxable resident of Brothers Valley Twp., Somerset Co. PA (History of Bedford and Somerset Co., p. 142)
Michael (yeoman) and wife Barbara, of Brothers Valley Twp., Somerset Co. PA, deed to Frederick Weller, of same, 171 acres of land on the Cassleman River in that Twp. on 4/1/1811 which Michael had purchased on 10/23/1796, recorded in the Patent Book in Lancaster County, PA, #36, p. 32.
On 5/29/1815, Michael and wife, now of Westmoreland Co. PA, but late of Elk Lick Twp., Somerset Co. PA, farmer, deed 326 acres of land with an improvement in Elk Lick Twp. to son, John of Elk Lick Twp.; says Michael got the land by warrant deed on 11/1/1805.
Listed as a taxable in Elk Lick Twp. in 1796 (Somerset Co. PA)
Joan lists her source as Quitopahilla (Hill) Church Records (Lebanon Twp., Lane. Co. PA)
