The purpose of this website is for the displaying of an artist’s portfolio. The site also serves as a source of information for people interested in commissioning artwork or purchasing artwork. To accomplish this task, I created a site with simple navigation and dull color scheme as to not take attention away from the gallery pages.
I chose to go with a gray scale color scheme in order to not make the gallery pages too stimulating. For the landing page I put a simple directory as well as a video to set the mood for navigating the website. The about page has the side navigation bar schemed the same as all the other pages on the site so you can navigate easily between pages. I put an image of the artist on the page with the about content below. For all the pages I used Heracleum as the font for the header. on the contact page I put some helpful text to direct customers to the right forms as well as a general email to contact the artist. Each of the commission/purchase forms are styled the same but with different information prudent to the artwork being requested. The gallery pages are separated by the type of artwork. with each gallery having the images centered so they can be focused on one at a time.
Given more time I would firstly style the site for seamless mobile browsing. Some other considerations would be an ecommerce store for prints as well as original artworks. If I had more time I would have created thumbnail images and full resolution images of all the gallery items. I would have also included the full portfolio.
