I also can remember standing next to the cab in an 01100 rolling above Washington Street, just like this view as seen by Vlad Kedrovsky at Northhampton. All of this is now gone as of 1987.
This is City Square on the Charlestown El in 1972, three years before the end of service. Joe Testagrose.
Fast foward to 1980, a train of 01100's sits at Wellington Station inbound to Boston. This is the line that replaced the Charlestown Elevated in 1975, with additions northward through 1980. Photo Steve Sherman.
I found this pic floating on the net and if anyone knows who took it, please let me know. Here a train of 0500's rolls out of the East Boston Tunnel near Aquirium Station in the 1970's
